INTRODUCTION

I was the proud winner of this product in a raffle a number of years ago, and kept it exclusively for the times I went running or to the gym...I tell you that means it wasn't used every day!
I believe it is Apple's smallest product and it is the cheapest in the iPod range, I think it's around £45.

DESIGN AND FEATURES

The iPod is clearly very small, less than 0.5 inches cubed in volume! Regardless of whether you are a mathematician, you can tell that is TINY and extremely light in weight.
The iPod has a simple series of buttons for pausing, playing and other controls with your music. There is also the on/off standby switch on the top. This makes it really easy to use, there are no complicated menus to work your way through. There is a 3.5mm jack on the bottom, for headphones but also for charging and docking. The entire reverse of the device is a flap or a clip which allows it to be attached to your trousers or your pocket.
Because the device is so petite, you will notice that there is neither screen nor any form of Display. This takes some time to get used to because you don't know what song is coming next, or how far through a song you are.
I believe the iPod shuffle is available in a number of colours, personally I was gifted the silver model, but if choosing myself I would choose the matt black, as in my opinion black looks much better on small electronics, but it's obviously personal preference!
The sound quality is quite good on the iPod Shuffle and basically it is just a simple MP3 player. There are no further features really, but for many people this is all they were looking for.

BATTERY LIFE AND MEMORY

The battery life on this iPod Shuffle lasts about 12 hours, but charging is quite slow, it can take over 3 hours to fully charge this little machine, via your computer.
In terms of memory the 2GB model holds a few hundred songs, which for the majority of individuals this should be enough. It is compatible with iTunes, so you can easily move your media back and forward from your library.

SUMMARY

Although on a personal basis, I prefer to have a product with more features, and a larger capacity, for many people the Shuffle is sufficient. It is one of Apple's more affordable products and for many people, why spend the extra money on a model with lots of complicated, unnecessary features that perhaps you will never use.
