***Why Apple iPod shuffle (2G) 2GB?***
As someone who is often on the go, I find it is almost essential to have something I can listen to music from. My options? Laptop - too big, Phone - would drain my battery that I'm saving more important things. An old mp3 player - looks too unfashionable and unusable due to bulkiness. I had always avoided Apple products because I didn't see the big deal with this iPhone craze and didn't think it was worth investing so much money when I could find something less expensive to do the job. It wasn't until I received an Ipod Shuffle as a birthday present that I opened my eyes to what I'd been missing out on all these years!!
It came in an almost clear box with a white chunky base, inside the box was the player itself with a pair of white Apple headphones. Sleek and portable, it was a perfect companion for me while I am on the go. Whether it be running, travelling or doing housework and especially if I don't have access for internet to stream music - it's ideal to have a playlist on the shuffle! Best of all, it was actually user friendly!
***How does it work***
Firstly, you need to have Itunes, via this application you can organize your music on your laptop or computer. This may involve copying music from your CDs, compiling a playlist from music you have downloaded etc. Then you can make a playlist. This playlist will be synchronized onto your ipod shuffle via usb wire which connects into your shuffle via the audio jack. This is also how you may charge up the shuffle. So it the whole process is not as complex as you may anticipate!
One thing that sets the shuffle aside from other Mp3 players is that is does not have a screen! But that's what makes it a shuffle. You have two options. You can either make a playlist on iTunes, transfer it to Ipod and listen to the music tracks in order OR you can listen to them in shuffle - random songs in any order. This is what makes the screen-less feature acceptable!! Because it isn't really required. Amazing how simple they keep it!
This is very important for me, as I use my shuffle extensively and it is rechargeable - no worries about buying new batteries or hassles about replacing! Just use and then charge away and you're ready to go! It takes around 2-3 hours to charge depending on whether you want to charge it quickly or fully. With it being fully charged you can get up to an incredible 15 hour audio playback. The battery life is indicated by a little light - glows green when battery is charged and amber when running low and red when completely depleted.
This is for those who want to know what track it is, you can select this option to have the name of the track read out to you by an automated voice. This voice can be chosen to talk in many different languages. For me, I find this unnecessary because I know what music I have put on so if anything, it is an interference between songs to know what song is coming next, just play it already! But then again, it's not a problem as I don't use this feature.
***What does it like***
Looks would not be sufficient to describe the shuffle! It's everything about it - the shiny matte colours its available in, the lightness and sleekness and how compact it feels in your hand. The ease of using the clip to clip it onto your gym clothes or anywhere so you don't have to put it in your pocket. All in all, a great package
***Last but not least!***
Some nitty gritty facts: Pricing around £40 - and that's directly from the Apple Store online. Good pricing for 2GB which can hold up to 400-500 songs. (My playlists are only 100 songs but I have the comfort of knowing I can put more on it if I want to!
BEST BIT: If you're buying this as a present - you can get a cute little message engraved on the back, totally free which would make it so so special. I didn't get a message sadly.. But if I would've I'd have loved it! Gives a personal touch.
For more details eg tech specs, please visit the Apple Store online where you can find out! Hope my review was helpful about my experience with it as as a first time Apple user!
Summary: A great little mp3 player basically - Apple does it again!
