Advantages: Music, Videos, Wi-Fi, the list goes on

Disadvantages: Battery is a bit poor

I have had the iPod Touch 16gb for just over a week now and I love it!

Firstly lets start off with its looks. It is really thin and very light if a tad wide. The front has a black finish while the back has a nice silver finish with a weird black rectangle in the top corner.

From turning the iPod touch on you will see just how nice it looks. The colours are very bright and vibrant and each item is well layed out on the home screen.

Firstly to the main reason for using the iPod Touch, its music feature. As everyone knows it uses iTunes to sync up your pc with the iPod. Once the music is on the phone then it really shows its quality! As usual you can choose how to find what you want to hear, whether it be sorting it by artist, song or album. Upon choosing one of them, it then sorts it alphabetically with a quick jump section to the right of the screen where you can jump to a specific letter in the alphabet. If you turn the phone horizontally everything changes! It then sorts the music by artist and lets you flick through each album on the phone and shows the album cover if its available. The clever thing here is that you can go through the albums by flicking your finger either from right to left or vice versa and if you use a faster flick, it flips through more albums allowing you to get to the other end of the alphabet quicker.

Next up is the videos section. This does not work in the same way as the music. When you select videos, you are given a list of movies on the iPod and upon selecting one of them, it plays it with the iPod horizontal. As yet, I have had no problems with syncing so its all good!

Now onto the other features. First up is the Wi-Fi and internet access. At first I had a few problems connecting the touch up to my Wi-Fi but once connected it works a treat. The internet is amazing to say the least. It gives you full internet access and nothing like the rubbish you get on a normal mobile phone. The most amazing thing, however, is the ability to zoom in and out by pinching the screen and separating you fingers to zoom in and together to zoom out.
Among other features are Google maps (exactly like you get on a pc), weather, a you tube link, calendar, and a direct link to your emails. It also gives a direct link to iTunes which is very handy.

I have heard people complain that the main problem is that it scratches easily and this is very true. However, I bought a screen protector from an auction site which cost me about £3 which works a treat. It's barely noticeable and protects against scratches and general wear and tear.

Next up is the battery. This is the one area that lets it down. When listening to music it offers up to 22 hours playback but when watching movies this drops drastically to 5 hours which (if you go on a long journey) will not last long at all. Then again, this is not anything new and if you're going to buy it then you will already know about this.

One other thing that people don't like is the fact that you have to pay for any new updates and I don't like it but the fact is that it is a music player and not a PDA so any extra features like Google maps is an add on.

Finally, I must say that the iPod Touch is a brilliant piece of work and Apple have really outdone themselves on it. I used to be dead against the iPod Touch and the iPhone but now I'm all turned around on the subject.

Summary: Its pricey, but you get what you pay for
