Advantages: Not just music, but an app store full of thousands of apps, wifi, video, photo and more!

Disadvantages: It is hard to think of a disadvantage but the main one would be that it can occasionally crash.

Intro:

The Apple ipod touch 16GB model gives you enough storage to store tons of songs, videos, pictures and applications to keep you entertained for hours! This ipod also comes in a range of 8GB and 32GB but i am reviewing this specific one as i own this model. In this review i will speak about the many features and other things that have been included in this mp3 player that gives it such an amazing feel to it when being used.

Battery life - 22 hours on average for music playback and 5 hours on average for video playback. It uses a lithium-ion battery.
Generation - This version is the first generation which does not have the built-in speaker which the second generation ipod touch has.

Requirements:

This machine does not require much to use, now you do not even need a computer if you want music on it because there is a built-in itunes store where you can purchase music that goes straight into your playlist. This can be an advantage if you do not own a computer = ].

What you do require if you want to put everything else on (including videos, pictures and also to update your ipod) is a computer (with an USB port) and the itunes software that can be downloaded for free from the Apple website or it can also be installed from the CD that comes with the ipod (make sure that the itunes that you have is version 8 or later).

Your computer will have to either be running on Windows Vista ( 32-bit or 64-bit doesn't really matter) or Windows XP service pack 2. However if you own a Apple Mac then it will have to be running on Mac OS X 10.4.10 or anything later than that.

Features:

The ipod touch has took technology to another level with the ground-breaking accelerometer which is basically a motion detector built into the ipod that is used for the thousands of games that can be purchased in the app store; to view the internet in wide screen; to view a photo or video in wide screen and to use the new cover flow display which you can swipe left and right to navigate through your albums. This piece of technology makes it the greatest mp3 that i have ever used, it gives you a vibe that you are in control (especially in games) that i love the feel of.

Another great piece of technology which is built into the ipod is the multi-touch screen which lets you put more than one finger on the screen at once to use specific controls which is very unique.These controls are ones such as: gliding, flicking and pinching, which can be used to quickly go through cover flow, flick through your photos by flicking left or right and pinching the screen to zoom in or zoom out of a web page or picture. These controls are also used in many of the games which make them more exciting to play!

Last but not least the built-in wireless has gave the ipod the edge that it needed as it gives you much more than just the internet, it also gives the ability to access youtube, e-mail, stocks, weather, maps, the app store and the itunes store when your within range of a wi-fi point. This also means that you can play others online and post scores on the games that you have purchased from the app store.

Conclusion:

Overall i think that Apple has got this item almost perfect in both looks and content as it has thousands of little features packed into a sleek and compact design. I cannot think of any other features that the ipod touch has missed out so therefore i would give it 10/10.
Although i think that the item is a little bit pricey compared to other mp3 players that are currently on the market and have a lot more memory than 16GB, but i was not upset to hand over the cash once i had actually used the device as it lived up to everything it says in the adverts!!
so in conclusion, if you have a spare £200-£300 going about and a need to buy a new mp3 player with a bunch of little amazing features then i highly recommend that you go out and purchase this item!! now!! = ]
