Apple iPod touch 16 GB
Advantages: Looks good, Apps...its basically an iphone
Disadvantages: Price (to some extent)
I have always wanted an Iphone but not wanted to part with either £400 straight up or sign up to a £40 a month contact. As a result I decided to purchase an ipod touch. The main function of the ipod touch is an mp3 music player. However as with most gadgets these days it come fully packed with about a million different functions.
The basic functions of the touch are pretty much everything an iphone offers minus calling, txting and Bluetooth. The touch allows you to access the internet in areas which are covered by Wi-Fi. Depending on where you are this is often free. For example I have wireless internet in my house therefore to get online on the touch is free. Some places offer wi-fi at a small charge which you can also access. Once online you are able to browse all web sites you would normally be able to access on a computer.
The touch can download many apps (nearly all that you can have on the phone). These are what makes the touch stand out from the other ipods available. You can download huge numbers of free apps, including games, gimmicks etc. Some better quality apps charge for download which ranges from about 59p to £5.99 The apps are great fun and allow you to constantly change the way you use the ipod. I'm not going into any further details about the apps as it would take forever to describe the range of things available. There are countless things which can be downloaded.
Obviously the main functions of the touch are for music, videos and photos. The touch is very simple to use and sync with your itunes. As with all apple products they are predominantly designed to work with itunes (which whilst frustrating at times, tends to work the best)
The touch is not too expensive compared to other apple products. The 16gb cost me around £130 from O2. I'm not sure if they still sell them today but if so then they are the cheapest place to buy them. The touch is also available in 8gb and 32gb. The 16gb is plenty for my needs (mainly music) but if you want to upload movies to the player i reccomend the 32gb.
The touch looks great. Its basically all screen with a small circular button at the bottom (i.e basically looks like the iphone). It is very thin and looks sleek. I have heard it is easy to break so recommend keeping it in some kind of case which can be purchased form Amazon very cheaply.
I would defiantly recommend this product for anyone who is in the market for a new mp3 player/video player. It looks good and performs excellently.
Summary: Great gadget
