Advantages: so many more features than the standard mp3 player

The ipod touch, advertised mainly for the huge array of available applications, the same as used on the iphone.

The music and video interfaces for the ipod are brilliant, the touch screen works very well and is extremely large, while the sound quality is excellent. I would strongly recommend ordering better headphones than the standard supplied pair though.

16GB was more than enough for my music collection, and it has room for all manner of videos and podcasts as well. Applications are tiny and so take up next to no room.

The advantages of this over the first generation are the improved screen, better battery life and speaker. The speaker is not meant for music, but is very usefull when browsing the internet and using applications for alert tones and email notifications. There is also a volume button on the side, a new feature from the first generation.

This is good as you dont need to turn it on fully to change volumes when listening to music.
