Sell your Granny! (Apple iPod touch (2G) 8 GB)
Member Name: flicks
Advantages: Decent battery life, great screen, great sound, great features Disadvantages: Battery life a bit poor using wi-fi, google maps not over useful, poor built in microphone, I have owned this product for just over 2 months now and I am still stunned by it's capabilities. This is quite simply an electronic marvel, almost like having a mini laptop in the palm of your hands. The screen is crystal clear in all light conditions and very sensitive to the touch so there's no concerns about pressing so hard that you think you're going to damage it. The battery life is good but bear in mind that if the wi-fi is permanantly connected the power will dwindle very fast. The case is sturdy but marks easily so I would suggest that you buy a cheap cover and a screen protector with it. The 2G ipod touch features a useful volume control on the left hand side which wasn't featured on the first gen model. It also features google maps which can be very useful for tracking routes but sadly hopeless once you are out of wi-fi range so whatever you do, don't mistake this for a sat nav substitute. It's nice and easy to configure the settings for your e.mail so rather than having to turn on your computer you can just turn on the ipod,( which only takes about 10 seconds to load up), press the e.mail icon and access it and you can even write e.mails from the touch screen, (small fingers recommended). Apps and games are easily and quickly downloaded to the device from the in built App store function which saves using itunes all the time. Loads of free stuff is available too so if you've spent your last penny on the ipod you can still download some games and stuff to show off to your friends. The video is crisp and clear and it's slow but possible to grab some computer based software and convert your own DVD's, load them into itunes and import them to the ipod. The sound quality is superb through the supplied ear plugs, (although for comfort it may be worth investing in some mini headphones), but please give the tinny built in microphone a miss. So to sum this up, it has a few minor faults but they are insignificant compared to it's brilliance. My advice........just buy it and sell your Granny if you need to! Summary: Just buy it
