Advantages: plenty of applications available, easy to use,

Disadvantages: easily damaged, battery life not so great

The ipod touch 2g has several improved features over the original model, its quite a bit slimmer, has built in speakers and also features a massive selling point - the App store. This allows you to download endless amounts of user generated games and useful applications ranging from pacman to an application to provide you with a phone number for the nearest taxi company. The applications used are shared with the iphone, and so some of them aren't quite as useful as the ipod touch can only access the internet in a wi-fi area, however the games and non internet using applications are incredibly fun and handy. They range from being completely free to around £5, and are definitely worth the money in most cases.
As well as the applications available the ipod touch 2g obviously can be used as an mp3 player, and will hold movies and photos. The touch screen interface is easy to get used to and easy to use as a whole.
The only downside I would say is that without a case the ipod touch is very easily damaged, with possible scratches on the touch screen and scuffs and marks on the back of the unit - without purchasing a case (which is obviously additional cost) the unit can end up looking second hand within a week of purchase if the user is not careful.
That being said, I think its the only real negative aspect of the ipod touch and other than that, its definitely worth the money and can provide hours of fun as well as the standard mp3 capabilities.
