Advantages: Fantastic sound quality, amazing range of features, sleek, stylish design
Disadvantages: None so far!
I've had my iPod 2G 8GB touch for around 2 months now and absolutely love it. It is such a handy gadget, I take it everywhere and would be absolutely lost without it! I used to have an iPod Shuffle but find the iPod touch is a lot more stylish to look at, the touch screen is quick and simple to use, you can change tracks at the touch of your screen and it comes with a lot more applications already built in. Not only this, you can download many games, videos, music and other apps, just like you can with the iPhone. Be warned when ordering these online though, as one of my friends mistakenly ordered an iPod touch thinking it was an iPhone due to their very similar features!
Design
The iPod touch looks 99% the same as the iPhone. It has a stylish, sleek design which is thin and light, slipping in to your pocket perfectly for when you're on the go. The iPod touch is made of polished stainless steel with a front facing and silver backing which you can have engraved upon placing your order with Apple, making it a perfect gift to someone you love.
The iPod touch 2G comes with a built in speaker, so theres no need to use your earphones all the time. The build in speaker sounds like any other player, clear, sharp and the volume adjusts according to your needs. Perfect for when you're on holiday!
The iPod also has a new improved battery life of approx. 36 hours. I find if I charge my iPod during the night, it will last me around 4 days, with my using it almost constantly throughout my working day.
There are four buttons on the iPod. Your on / off button which is at the top of the iPod, your "home screen" button, which is located at the bottom of the iPod and your volume adjust buttons which are built into the side of the iPod. It really is a simple, highly recommended gadget suitable for all ages.
Music
You can add all of your own tracks to your iPod touch easily by downloading the itunes software on to your pc / laptop and simply syncing them no to your ipod. The instructions on how to do this are supplied with your iTouch. With the 8GB ipod, you can upload approx. 1750 snogs, however this will vary depending on track lengths and also the memory used for other apps / games etc.
I find the music quality to be excellent and love how you can create your own playlists too.
Below is a list of other features on the iPod which I have only gone in to briefly for some of them.
Movies & TV Shows
You can download Movies on to your iPod in the same way you upload music. The screen is big enough and clear enough for you to watch your favourite movie(s) while on the go!
Games & Apps
There are hundreds of apps and games you can download for your iPod touch. Apps include recipe books, books, software, games etc. There are also hundreds of games available for the iPod touch such as solitaire, freecell etc. All games are played using the touch screen, which may sound difficult, but really isn't! Not only this, but the iPod touch works like the iPhone, where you can simple turn the iPod touch around with some games, i.e. like you're steering a car. This gives a whole new meaning to playing games!
Mail
If you connect to WiFi, you can access your e-mails using your iPod touch. This is great if you are in a café with free WiFi and need to check for important work e-mails etc.
Maps
The iPod touch has a "maps" software installed, so you'll never get lost! Again, you need to connect to the internet, then you simply type in where you want to go or follow the map as it will automaticall search for where you are and pin point it on the map.
YouTube
Again, if you're connected to WiFi, you can be directed to YouTube at the push of your finger and watch all the latest videos on their website.
Other features include:
Photos
Calendar
Contacts
Stock, Weather, Notes
Calculator
Nike & iPod
Safari
iTunes
You can find more information about the above by going to Apple's website.
Personally, I think this is the best MP3 player around. I wouldn't recommend getting an iPod Touch though if you have the iPhone as it is basically the same thing although you cant make calls or send text messages, so if that's what you're looking for, you'd be better off buying the iPhone, which is slightly more expensive, but worthwhile in the long run.
The iPod touch is available from around £155.00 and comes with a set of ear phones, USB cable and instructions.
