Advantages: Excellent battery life when used only for its music functionality

Disadvantages: Tinny sound when played aloud through the unit itself

As an iPod touch 2G owner since Xmas 2008, I have been looked upon by (some) pretentious iPhone owners as having the downgraded version to what they have. When I say I have one, I am met with the answer "but why not just get an iPhone? It's everything that the iPod touch is, plus more". Which is true, as the iTouch is bascially an iPhone without the ability to make calls or send text messages! Obviously it also does not have a camera or capture videos like the new iPhone 3G. But this doesn't stop me loving it.

It's the height of technology for MP3 players. Full touch screen functionality - when I received this as a present I didn't know that I could trust an iPod that didn't have a click wheel (isn't that what the iPod is all about!!?) - is easy to use and the screen quality is amazing. With the whole iTunes store at your fingertips as well, the options of how to use this gadget are limitless. Wifi connectivity means I can whip out my MP3 player when I can't be bothered switching my laptop on for a quick web browse.

I purchased a sports arm band for mine so I could take it to the gym for 99p off eBay (the screen cover does not affect the touch screen function, which surprised me) - and also a rubber skin for the same price off eBay for it. The asthetically pleasing shiny screen and reflective rear of the iTouch are easily scratched, and I take all the precautions I can to keep mine in pristine condition.

I've even linked mine to my hotmail inbox which automatically updates with new messages whenever a WiFi connection is available.

Sound quality is fab through the ear phones, if a little tinny through the external speakers.

Admittedly I don't use mine to its full potential, but I love the little thing and wouldn't be without it. I'm not a big game player or app user, and the 8BG storage is more than enough for my extensive music collection! And for using this for music only, the battery life is excellent. I have been taking mine to the gym 3 times a week for the last 3 weeks for an hour each time, only listening to music and not charged it once and just tonight it has alerted me to its last 10% of battery :)

Summary: Great little piece of kit, for iPhone user wannabe's!
