Advantages: App store, ease of use, great way to flick through music.

Disadvantages: No camera or 3G

After going through many different iPod models (by choice, not necessity!) i bought my first iPod touch not long after launch. Originally got it on a visit to the USA, and there are no problems with it working in Europe at all. Possible advantage to the US iPods is the lack of volume restrictor. If you like to destory your eardrums, its the way to go!

I'm on my 2nd iPod touch now, and it is a UK version, and apart from the slightly lower volume limit, it works in exactly the same way.

The way it works near enough exactly like the iPhone - just without the phone and camera parts - is fantastic. Its sleek, quick, and everything is done with a flick or a prod on the glossy touchscreen. To exit out of an application, just press the big round home button at the bottom. Its that simple, and i often wonder why noone thought of it before.

The range of applications available on the App Store is incredible, with applications for just about anything you want to do. ('Theres an app for that!'). I have a range of games on my iPod, along with some gimmicky touchscreen toys and then some more useful items such as 'Remote' which will let me control my iTunes over my WiFi network without being at my computer. Very useful for a party!
The only downside about the iPod in relation to the applications is the fact that many available apps require a data connection to work, which is only available on the iPhone. But there are that many other useful or fun things, it isnt hindered too much!

The inbuilt features all work great. The WiFi is as easy to set up as any modern computer operating system, and the web browser is a joy to use. Just flick about the web pages with your fingers and zoom in and out by pinching your fingers. A little keyboard will pop open to input web addresses, and thats about it. Dead simple and all the better for it.

The other little apps preinstalled are very useful too. Notes, stocks, weather, calculator, clock, contacts, mail and calendar are all very self explanatory but work with the same quick, sleek, buttonless ease as everything else.

The iPod itself is small, sleek and definitely eye catching. The polished back can get easily scratched however, but i keep it in an iPod sock and after a long time, i only have 2 little marks on the back. Although, i am overly protective of it! Need to have my music everywhere...!

This is all without even mentioning the most important part - the music! Straight forward to sync your music with iTunes, plug it in, iTunes will find it, select what music you want synced and away it goes. Its that simple.

Flicking through your music with your fingers never gets old. Up and down through the artists, left and right through the albums with cover flow. Just keep that screen polised as you will soon see that fingerprints easily appear from all the browsing through the music.
Sound quality is really very good, and with a decent set of headphones, the volume can get very loud!

Customer service is excellent too. Had some headphone jack issues with my American iPod 9 months after purchase. Took it to an Apple reseller, who then sent it off to Apple for me. Apple then sent a replacement brand new iPod within the week. Excellent.

Not really got bad thing to say about the product. Just more and more features would be good! Although, there cant be much space to fit more things in there!

Summary: Best iPod yet.
