We bought the iPod Touch for my younger brother from Additions.co.uk, buying it from a catalogue can be a risky business as you normally pay above the odds however we got it for £139.99 (the same price as Amazon) and at interest free Buy Now Pay Sept 2010.

Overall this is a brilliant piece of kit. The 8GB version is perfect for my brother as it has just enough memory to hold everything you want it to.

When you first get the iPod you have to connect it to iTunes to register it, the process is simple and takes no longer than two minutes. Once registered you can automatically sync your itunes to add all your music content or you can be more selective and create a playlist of certain songs that you would prefer. Once the songs are on the ipod they can be played either via headphones which give a great quality listening experience or via the small built in speaker.

The iPod Touch isn't just about music though, it is about so much more. You can download films from itunes and put them on your ipod and whilst the screen isn't huge it's perfect for if your on the train/bus etc. There is also the option to connect to the internet via wifi connection which means you can check your MobileMe account, use google maps, get directions, watch youtube and so on. You can also download applications for the iPod a lot of them do cost but there are free applications as well which enable you to turn your ipod into a mini hand held computer. There is a facebook application, tweetdeck, e-buddy(like msn) as well as games and the Stanza application. Stanza helps you to turn your ipod into an e-reader so you can read books on the go :)

The iPod Touch isn't perfect unfortunately, because of the firm ware you actually only get 7GB of useable memory on the 8GB version, and the battery life isn't brilliant. If you are using it for e-books, internet, facebook, tweet deck etc then expect to need to charge it every day.

Charging is simple though you just connect it to the pc/laptop via USB and it charges up.

Summary: A gadget that is simple yet effective and can make life so much easier.
