Advantages: Great video and internet facilities, apps

Disadvantages: slightly lower than expected screen resolutioon

One of the best convergence devices in the world.

The first thing that you'll notice about the Ipod touch is its gorgeous aesthetic. From the black finish around the screen, to the curved silver backing, this device is drop dead beautiful. The black and silver gives it a sleek modern look, along with its reasonably compact size. The screen itself look great simply because of its sheer size at 3.5 inches. All of this makes for one very smooth looking unit that appeals to my vanity and fashion and gadget sense.

The build quality is also fantastic, feeling heavy enough in your hand as to not make you worry about crushing it everytime you touch the screen. Talking of the screen, its a fingerprint magnet along with the rest of the Ipod, but is very good quality, withstanding regular tapping and the occasional drop or scrape in the pocket. Even so, a screen protector is always a great idea.

Music is the main point of the Ipod, even though it can do so much more. Whilst the supplied headphones won't satisfy many, you can buy new ones that it the 3.5 jack port. The music player software is a mini version of itunes realy, listing different songs in a long list, to be broken down into catagories and subcatagories depending on length, artist, album, genre etc. This alows for real ease of access. The coverflow is great although not perfect. Listing all of your albums in a landscape view and alowning you to literaly swipe through them is great to show off to people, but lags sometimes and realy is only a gimmic. You can keep thousands of tracks all fairly well compressed on the 32 gb flash memory aswell.

Watching videos is a standard on todays mobile devices, and the touch doesnt fail to deliver at all. Allowing you to watch youtube videos, to full length movies on its big screen, it always looks great (depending on the coding of he video).

There are countless applications available for paid and free download via the inbuilt wireless on the 'pod aswell as from your PC or mac. I wont go into detail on these weird and wonderful apps, which range from games to caloric counters, but i will touch(:P) on the inbuilt apps. These inclus a safari web browser which is one of the most streamlines browsing experiences you can get. With a full HTML view of pages its just like using it on a computer, with history bookmarks etc, just don't expect to be watching flash movies online eh!

Other apps incluse weather and stocks, which both do exactly what it said on the tin. But one of the most usefull apps is the email app. Alowing you to use this client means having a wireless internet connection to let your emails download onto the ipod. They are easy to read, sort and reply to with no real time delays.

The YouTube app is great for catching up on all of your funny clips and/or music videos. Nearly all the vids on there are viewable nowadays and its a native program meaning that everything fits and works seamlessly.

The multitouch on the device isn't realy spectacular unfortunately. Not because it doesn't work well, but because the device is good at knowing what you want to zoom in on just from a quick double tap(on safari). It does however make looking through photos more amusing.

Summary: Fantastic for teenagers and housewifes and all in between

hi and thanks, the touch has a huge catalogue of EQ settings, from acoustic to dance, bass booster, to vocal booster. althought that is all it has in terms of settings, and im not sure if that any better than a classic?? .

Welcome to Dooyoo

An excellent all round review here - however if I was in the market I'd like to know over my own Classic Ipod, if this model has the same amount of sound settings on offer.
