A fantastic gadget that does lots of things, even if it doesn't have a lot of space on it.

Advantages: Nice big screen, lots of great features and apps, looks good, quite compact
Disadvantages: Not much space, not as many apps available as there are for the iPhone
I got an iPod touch almost free with my MacBook as part of Apple's excellent student deal. I don't think I would have ever bought an iPod touch at full price as I thought it somewhat unnecessary, but now I couldn't live without it. The apps are brilliant, particularly if you live in London and have no sense of direction - you can get an A-Z for your iTouch, which is much better than the paper version as it doesn't fall apart! There are also apps to tell you which door to get on the tube so you'll beat everyone else to the exit, as well as many others. Unfortunately, some of the more useful apps are only for iPhones as they require internet access, however the ones you can use on your iTouch are more than enough. There are some great games as well, brilliant for long or short journeys, especially as the screen is nice and large.
The one thing I don't like about my iTouch is that it only has 8 GB. I also have an iPod classic on which I have all my music, movies, tv shows etc - they simply wouldn't come close to fitting on my iTouch. I would recommend getting a 32 GB iTouch for this reason - unfortunately, the price tag is a lot bigger. What I tend to do is, when going on a long journey, select some tunes and movies from my iTunes library and put them on the iTouch, then change this selection when next going on a long journey.
If you have access to WiFi, then there is a lot you can do with your iTouch. You can go on the internet just as you can on a computer, and you can watch YouTube videos at a decent size. The screen is big enough that you don't feel as though you are watching something on a small screen.
The sound quality is noticeably better than on my iPod classic.
The design of the iTouch is lovely and sleek, although I recommend getting a case with a screen protector to prevent it from getting scratched.
All in all, a great gadget and an excellent travel companion!
Summary: Definitely a good buy, although would recommend getting an iTouch with more space.
