This was a very good device at the time of its release but after newer models and many updates it is now pretty much useless. Most of the games on the app store have moved on from this device as now they only play on the 3rd and 4th generation with the 1st and 2nd being unable to run them. This device is no longer supported by apples updates so you wont have the best security and functions available. The device will only be good for searching the internet (which can take a while because the processor is not that great so each web page can take 30 seconds to load), listening to music or watching movies and the last two options fill a 8gb ipod in a surprisingly short amount of time. I found that this device also after having synced and updated several times starts to fill up with "Other" according to Itunes and if you do get this you will notice you can lose over 2gb of your ipod to this which is a large inconvience. I found recently to fix this you need to do a restore and update all over again and it will go back to normal. There was no speaker on the 1st gen ipod touch so you will need to buy either a docking station or headphones if you do not want to have to use the little white headphones that come with it. A good thing about buying an Ipod Touch is that if you drop it from about 4 ft it will more than likely be fine without even a scratch or dent appearing (but I would not recommend doing so as you may get unlucky and it smashes). Anyone thats looking for an Ipod I would recommend getting the 4th gen as it is much faster and has a better resolution which makes everything a bit clearer to see.
