Advantages: Stores a large amount of music, good user interface, easy to transfer music

Disadvantages: Scratches, Battery Life

I have had my Ipod for 4 months now, i got mine when they first came out in the UK and i have to say what a brilliant MP3 player is is!

User Interface
It has the usual very easy Ipod interface; go around the click wheel to go either up or down, then to select press the middle button, to go back you just use the 'menu' button. Anyone can pick this up, easy as pie. The other buttons include pause, back, forward and the hold switch(to stop you knocking buttons).

Sound
The sound is great. A lot of people criticise the iPod's headphones, but they work and sound brilliant. The volume can go up very high or very low.

Size
It’s a great sized mp3, nice and thin, a big improvement on the bigger 1st generation Ipods. It has a nice big LCD screen to watch the videos on.

Video capabilities
The iPod Video can playback videos encoded as Mpeg4 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec. You are able to download a free converter to convert any videos you have on your computer so you can put them onto your Ipod video, or you can pay and use Apple's 'Quicktime Pro'. It plays these back using the 2.5-inch screen which can be connected to your TV (with a cable that you have to buy yourself).

The Actual Ipod
The size of the ipod has been discussed, but the actual ipod hasn't. After a week of using your Ipod video you will notice little scratches (not really noticeable) all over the front of it, this has always been a problem with Ipod's. Assuming you handle it correctly you won't get big scratches which can happen if the ipod is abused. You can buy special liquid from the USA to apparently get rid of the scratches.

Transferring Music
This is easy, although you NEED to be running itunes. Once you've got all your songs on itunes, all you need to do is plug in the Ipod and it will automatically connect with itunes and transfer your videos/music, easy, nothing to it. And with a massive 30GB of space it will take most peoples whole music collection.

Battery Life
Another problem that all Ipods seem to have. According the the stats of the Ipod it's meant to have 14 hours playback time. This is when you don't change track yourself, when your using it normally it will probably last around 8 hours. I put my on charge every couple of days.

You need to get rid of the tags.

I like my ancient Archos far better than my iPod.
