Advantages: compact and looks great
Disadvantages: battery life
I've just bought this a few weeks ago from Amazon for £205 and love it !
It came with a usb lead, soft case, headphones, dock cradle, instruction pamphlet and iTunes software. It's very easy to get up and running, just install the software in either your PC or Mac and the connect to the computer via the 2.0 usb cable. I already had itunes so there was already a lot of music on there so when I connected the ipod it 'updated' by itself (ie all your tunes transferred onto the ipod with having to do a thing. Its very user friendly.
I bought a couple of music videos from iTunes for only £1.89 each as I was dying to see how good the 2.5" vid screen was. I was not disappointed as the images were very sharp.
The 30gb memory really is massive. I have about 1200 songs on there so far and have only used about 4.5gb and that includes a dozen music videos as well. It says that it can hold approx 7500 songs (based on 4 mins for each song) and they aren’t lying... it's HUGE ! ! !
The sound is fantastic, even to a fussy bugger like me. The headphones may not be the best I've ever used but far from the worst and have no complaints. It packs some real punch in the volume stakes too. It also has various sound settings including bass boost, vocal boost etc.
The ipod can fit snugly in your pocket as it's small and lightweight but be careful of scratches ! I have mine in the soft case provided as friends have complained that it scratches on contact with air. There are loads of 'skins' that you can buy to protect it, from silicone ones to metal casings. I would not recommend you just chuck it in your bag or coat pocket without one.
The only gripe is the battery life. It says in the manual that comes with it that it can play music for 14 hours but I would say it's more like 7 - 9 depending how long you have the backlight on, which you need to browse your collection.
The PC System Requirements are
Built-in USB port (USB 2.0 recommended)
Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 or Windows XP Home or Professional Service Pack 2 or later
iTunes 6
and the Mac System Requirements are
Built-in USB port (USB 2.0 recommended)
Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later
iTunes 6 or later
It's a fantastic bit of kit, and worth the money
Summary: Top buy !
