Advantages: Light-weight, durable, easy to use.

Disadvantages: Not as cool as an iphone.

The fifth generation (5G) ipod was a remarkable step-up from the previous models. The ability for it to play video made it an instant success. However, this version of the ipod was more than that. The design was much sleeker than the previous models and a lot of the bugs that caused probles with the old models were fixed.

I have found in my experience of owning and using this ipod for several years now that it is also far more durable than the ipods before it. The material is very tough and has servived many falls, with only a few scratches to show for it. This model also had the nice feature of showing album artwork for a track while it was playing, and had a long battery life when playing music. The battery life when viewing video is considerably shorter but this is understandable.

With regards to the video playback, it is exactly what can be expected and no more. I would not reccomend viewing anything longer than a music video on this version, however, as the battery life (not to mention the strain on your eyes) would drain quickly.

Overall, I would happily endorse this product as it has brought me much joy over the years and is still in perfect working order.

Summary: Very good product worth buying.
