Advantages: Good picture quality, good storage capacity

Disadvantages: Battery charging takes a while

This is the ideal gizmo for long car journeys. I was dubious about this at first but once you use one you will soon change your mind. It is bascially a multimedia playing device. You load films, music, photos etc from your pc onto the Archos hard drive (I had 10 films on there with space for more). The functionality is easy to use - it has a touch screen which you can access menus using a little pointer provided with it (although a downside is that I can see the stick being lost over time). At first you think the screen may be a bit small but once you become engrossed in a film, you soon forget about that. If you are in a quiet room you can use the Archos without headphones but the volume isn't sufficient to drown out background noise. The picture quality is excellent with no jumping etc. You can also use it to access the internet over a wifi connection although you have to puchase extra hardware to do this. A good feature is that if you are watching a film and turn the Archos off to come back to it later, it remembers the point you were at in the film. It also has a handy stand on the back so you can sit it in front of you. The only downside is that I don't know how to put films from a dvd onto the Archos. I think you just have to download them so you may end up buying existing dvds again in download format. Also, the batteries do take an age to charge but you can get two decent length films out of a battery once fully charged. Overll though a great purchase to make.
