A few days ago i did not know whether to buy this little device or not, many proclaimed that it was fantastic, but if you are like me and dont always believe reviewers then this is for you. I assure you i am a genuine reviewer and i can honestly say that the joybee is fantastic. The options on it are great, Fm radio, computer active magazine said it took 5 minutes to scan through the whole FM frequency (Quote: "The search facility is incredibly slow - it took almost five minutes to cycle through the whole FM frequency"), Well computer active it took me less than 2 minutes so i dont know what you were doing wrong! You do have the option of recording live radio but to be honest the quality it comes out in is not that good so not really worth it, unless you are recording speech. The Voice recorder is pretty good as of course all you will be doing is recording voice, so the quality does not have to be perfect but it is actually ok, slightly better than radio recording, good enough. The mp3 player itsself is of high build qualtiy Well done BenQ!, check for measurements of the device around as they pop up on almost any site when searched for. But the joybee 120 is absoulely (almost ridicously) small! it is literally smaller than a small matchbox. I have showed some of my freinds and work collegues and they cant beleive it, they are pretty computer literate aswell! The weight of the device is superb aswell, i wouldnt say that it weighs as much as a matchbox but it is very light on the trouser pocket!. I would like to clear that the radio is not contained within the headphones it is in the device. Unlike some other 'cheaper' devices on the market. I cant believe how they fit it all in! There are three colours (orange, silver, green) I got the orange version iam extremely pleased with it, it does look a bit too bright on the websites but actually it is rather pretty when you are ho lding it and i have had no comments about it. Word of advice buy new earphones though, as always with almost every MP3 player priced at £100 you do get the cheap crappy earphones and anyone in their right mind would change them, they use a cheaper method of sound distubution rather than makes like sony that use a special magnet to project quality sound. Oh and (sorry computer active) but, they said "In playback mode, for example, you need three button presses just to alter the volume or activate the 'hold' feature" which is actually true, but it does not cause any problems at all when needing to change volume, you simply hit menu the play (to select volume) then use the next track/ previous track buttons to change it then hit play again to confirm and then menu to return to info display. Sounds hard doesnt it?, well no it is actually very easy, i got used to it on the first day of using it! My advice is buy it from dabs.co.uk £95 inc delivery :-), i think that 18/20 people would be pleased with the device the only let down is the max size version you can get is 256mb, shame... The only let down i can say on this device is... WE WANT A TEN GIG VERSION!, erm... i think i might be pushing it... it is small and all. :-)

BenQ Joybee 120 MP3 Player What did you get for Christmas? A CD? A book? Or even one of those up-and-coming DAB digital radios? What did I get for Christmas? Well, amongst other things, including an Advent Laptop (I plan to write a review on this shortly), I gladly received a BenQ Joybee MP3 player. From the outset one would not have guessed it be an MP3 player. All neatly wrapped in the most luxurious of Christmas-decorated paper, the size of a shoebox. As with all of my presents previous to this one and indeed subsequent to, I paid no consideration to the skill that went into wrapping it, in fact I didn?t even read the attached tag, until after- only then realising that it was from my Dad. So there I held it- a cardboard box. The top right-hand corner revealed it to be an MP3 player. Was I pleased? Dam right I was. It was, after all what I had asked for. I set about investigating the contents. In opening the box revealed yet another box. Inside this box appeared to be the 'stuffing' of the parcel. There was a carrying case, a set of headphones, a software installation CD-ROM, a USB connector cable, battery charger, neck strap and of course the all important User guide and warranty card. And the MP3 player? I scanned the contents once again, checked the box to review contents and the appearance of the device. I come to a brief conclusion that it was disguised- as part of the headphones? No, none of the contents that I could see had any such resemblance to the stylish Joybee. So where was it? After a full two minutes I found it tucked neatly within the outer box. I had missed it at the initial stage. It was so small! Anybody reading this I would presume to have knowledge of MP3 devices. But for those who don?t? (If you know already skip to the next paragraph). The BenQ Joybee 120 is a portable audio player capable of storing compressed music files in MP3 and WAV format. Music such as this is obtained and downloaded, via the USB cable, from a computer. Tracks can be extracted from a CD or downloaded from the Internet. You plug the headphones into the player and listen away. No CDs to lug around- just music of your choice on a device smaller than a small matchbox. ~THE PLAYER~ The BenQ Joybee 120 MP3 player is the most stylish, smallest and lightest sub-£100 MP3 player on the market. It has received full star ratings from most that have reviewed it, including 'Sound and Vision' and 'Computer Shopper'. The small price of £95 (even less if you buy in the sales) makes this gadget an absolute bargain. So, How Stylish? Very! The player is compact and buttons are easily accessible and displayed in a well thought out manner. The blue backlight gives its appearance a massive boost and the display is configurative and informative. The Joybee is available in three colours: Silver (that?s mine!), green and orange. How Small? Dimensions measure 57mm x 38mm x 11.5mm. Extremely small! How Light? With the battery excluded only 24g. The battery adds hardly anything to that weight. It?s so small and light that you would lose it in your pocket. The Joybee 120 is available in three different capacities: 64MB, 120MB and 256MB. With one minute of music using around 1 MB and the average song requiring 4MB, there?s a capacity to suit the individual. Full charge of a battery should take no longer than 2 hours and that will provide you with 16 hours pure MP3 playback, which is impressive when comparing to post-£100 models, some of which have only 12 hours battery life. What you get for your battery life is impressive. Besides offering users MP3 (or to be technical, MPEG Audio layer-3), WMA and WAV supporting formats for downloading and listening the Joybee is also an FM Radio, a Dictaphone, a radio and music recorder and a USB flash drive. The supplied install software is essent ial in getting the full benefit from the player. It includes a drive installation for users who require it (Windows 98 users), 'Qmusic' for easy editing and management of music files and an online user guide available in four different languages. Can a player really be this good? It must have at least one fault surely? Well unfortunately yes. The headphones do not match the standard of the MP3 player, which is a big shame. If just a little more money were to be spent by BenQ then the headphones would be credible. The headphones are white- the player silver/orange/green. I have to say the silver and white do not match. It is seen as a cheap, tacky set of headphones attached with an expensive, stylish MP3 player. I believe that even BenQ themselves are dissatisfied with the supplied headphones, choosing to display a different pair altogether on the covering photograph. The BenQ Joybee 120 MP3 player is outstanding amongst other sub-£100 players in what it offers for the money. With the exception of the headphones there is absolutely nothing wrong with this nifty little gadget.

This is it! Superb!! The Benq Joybee 120 (128MB) in my opinion represents the best value player/usb storage/voice recorder/fm radio device currently on the UK market. This device is just awesome for the money. I picked mine up from Procom on Tottenham Court Road (TCR) off Oxford Street. The unit is finished in aluminium, no cheap plastic mouldings here. Backlit in blue, the LCD displays info/control over volume, playmode (MP3/WMA/WAV, FM Radio, Voice recording), EQ settings etc. Navigation is simple and effective. Audio playback is excellent for such a small, compact device. And I mean small!! The Joybee is tiny!!! I don't want to spend time covering info on specs, but here are some of the nice things (not in any particular order): Charger with led indicator (red/green) A-B section repeat Superb balanced sound Excellent belt-clip holder Enclosed QMusic (ver.2) is simple and effective FM Radio quality (when reception is strong) 16 hours playback (from internal rechargable battery) I purchased the lime green unit (silver is a bit drab). Did not use the enclosed earphones with integrated volume control. Used my failthful pair of Sony MDR-EX70LP. Contrary to some reviews, you can control audio volume from the Joybee's in-built menu independent of the supplied earhpones. Pressing the menu button and selecting option 1-Volume gives access to a volume bar to increase/decrease the audio volume. So no worries there!!! If you are after a superb, compact, all-in-one device, purchase this item. 128MB is restrictive compared to other devices. But if like me, you want something that won't break the bank, can store up to 60 songs, has a class finish, can provide FM radio and voice recording. Would benefit from the USB data storage capability and want a device that is truly minature...well need I say more! :)
