Advantages: Smart, tiny, very easy to use
Disadvantages: No mains charger
This is a pretty amazing piece of technology for the price. 4mb might not sound very large but this Mp3 player comes with an expansion slot which will take a memory card so you can easily and effectively double the memory capability when you need to.
I was a bit scared of MP3 players, I'm not as young as I used to be and it takes me a bit longer to cotton on to new technology than some younger minds.
I got this for my husband when I was stuck for what to get him for his birthday. As I'm the computer user i knew it would be up tome to manage it and load stuff on to it.
I needn't have worried. This baby is so easy to use even I just plugged it in and off I went.
In the box you get your credit card sized (though obviously thicker) Zen player, the software you need and a usb lead.
You load the cd software, plug the player in and fo rthe first time leave it pluuged in to your pc for about 4 housr to charge it up. It doesn't have a mains charger so to recharge it you plug it into your pc to recharge while you work, not a problem if you use your pc every day like I do.
While it charges you have plenty of time to familiarise yourself with the Creative zen media organiser which will launch automatically each time you plug your Zen in from now on.
With this interface you can upload music, videos and photos.
Be warned though the first time you plug it in it "synchs" with your pc and loads every single music track and photo - resulting in me giving my husband an MP3 player with photos of all my girly craft stuff and scrapbook layouts on it!
You can quickly and easliy remove stuff you don't want though and in future if you select to add stuff manually you can be choosy.
With a tiny screen you can even watch videos and as well as subscribing to regular podcasts via the Zencast organiser it also comes with you can watch Vodcasts (videopodcasts) - See I know all the jargon now! The screen is clear and though small its easy to watch held in your hand.
I loved it so much I got him to buy me an 8mb one for my birthday and now we both float around with headphones on most of the time.
Summary: A great MP3 player suitable for first time user or high end techies.

- 07/08/08 It's a bit misleading to say "the first time you plug it in it "synchs" with your pc and loads every single music track and photo" - mine didn't do that - it actually asks you on screen if you want it to do this :) I have over 100Gb of photos and tunes on my PC, they'd never fit LOL! |

- 07/08/08 I had this in the 8gb, unfortunatly mine was faulty and I didnt replace it (incase it was the entire line of them) but they are really cute, its so slim too- but be careful as the screen scratches very easily, you can get screen protectors that help that |
