Advantages: Cheaper than the iPod by £34 on Amazon

Disadvantages: Battery life is a bit short

It's pretty small - it's smaller than a credit card. The sound quality is pretty good, it's about the same as my iPod Shuffle but obviously with more settings. The earphones are identical to the old iPod earphones.

The User Interface is very good, it is clean and tells you what you need to know. The screen scratches very easily, so I would advise some sort of cover or case for the Zen

The battery life goes down very quickly, I am pretty sure that it doesn't last for 25 hours. It charges via USB port but any mini-USB mains charger (which costs less than £5 from Amazon) will charge the Creative Zen perfectly well.

The navigation buttons aren't very sensitive so you have to push down a bit to navigate which can get a bit annoying, but it becomes second nature after a couple of hours of use. It also makes it hard to accidentally change a song when I also can't help feeling that it needs a second user defined shortcut button.

The SD slot is useful but I think that the feature needs some work, at the movement when you navigate to the card, your music stops playing regardless of what media is on the SD card. So if you want to look at some photos via the SD card while playing music, then you can think again!

There is a lot of room for improvement, and I suppose the next version of Creative Zen will be a serious contender for the iPod. I'd take this over the iPod any day! It's cheaper, looks nicer and is easier to navigate.

Summary: Just as good as the iPod, if not better
