Advantages: Reliable, Intuitive, Solid build quality, Light
Disadvantages: A bit ugly in my opinion, Some annoying software
Skipping to the end this MP3 player is definitely worth buying.
When I originally bought the Zen Micro Photo 3 years ago it was £200, or thereabouts. Since then it has come down in price to £140 brand new...or thereabouts. Knowing what I know now, it's still worth £200.
I havent had any problems with it at all, as someone who previously used an Ipod, the layout took a little getting used to, but once I got the hang of it, it felt very intuitive. The build quality is solid, I've dropped it a few times and never had any problems. The sound is mainly dependent on the bitrate of an MP3 file anyway, but all of the frequencies are accounted for nicely, and there are some added Equalisation features which are a nice touch.
Of the minor points it doesnt have the coolness of an Ipod, but to me thats not essential. Some of the software that installs automatically is a bit annoying with its insistence on registering, the length of time it takes to install, and the way that it takes up the entire screen.
Ive read people say not being able to view photos while listening to music is a negative, but personally I think the photo feature is a token gesture, and one that I wouldn't use anyway.
Overall after having numerous problems with ipods in the past, this feels like the peoples champion of MP3 players. Im sure the newer versions are even better, but to be honest I dont need them, the Creative Micro Photo is excellent enough.
Summary: An MP3 player that does everything you want it to do, without fuss.
