      Disadvantages

A lovely little alternative MP3 player, really easy to use.

In a technology world which is dominated by a fruit based company, naming no names, the Creative Zen Mozaic holds it's own as a cost effective alternative!

      ***Look***
This little MP3 player fits nicely into any pocket and sits comfortable in your hand. It's not bulky nor heavy so often you can find yourself forgetting which pocket you've popped it in!
The mix of the matte and glossy buttons look great and give it the 'Mozaic' title which is a nice aesthetic. There is a button for most actions on the front (pause, play & skip to next track), making it very easy to use to.

      ***Storage***
8Gb was personally a lot for me. I got this as part of a Christmas present (I went 50/50 with my parents). Although I didn't use all the space, it was nice to have it. I know that I am quite different that I only have the music I have, I'm not constantly downloading new tracks, however I think that if this was the case for you that 8Gb should be adequate storage for you.

      ***Screen***
There are a range of 'display themes' that you can use making it really easy to personalise the device. You can even use your own photos as a background or screen saver. The screen could be a little bit bigger for anyone who has difficulties, but I didn't find any. As with most screens, it can be difficult to read in direct sunlight, but this didn't taint my experience at all.

      ***Conclusion***
This made for a great little MP3 player. I was very happy for 2 years. I did eventually have to replace it (cracked screen) and was given another MP3 player as a gift, but I would definitely repurchase or recommend as a gift for anyone else looking for a great little go-getter!

A great player at a fair price and does a lot more than just play music.

I owned a Creative Zen Mozaic EZ100 for several years and loved it. A couple of months ago the screen went (possibly due to the Zen getting wet when I got caught out in the rain), so I bought a new one straight away and am just as happy with it as I was with the first one.

I often listen to Audible audio books and not all players are compatible. The Zen Mozaic is compatible though, but, as with all audible compatible devices, the player needs to activated against your audible account (not hard to do).

The Zen is far from just a music player though. It has a graphic equalizer, with several preset listening options (rock, stadium etc), and a calendar and organizer. The Zen also plays video files and can be used to store pictures. No files, of any type, can be transferred, however, without first installing Creative's Creative Centrale software onto your PC.

Pet niggles: The standard earphones are a bit basic and not a comfortable fit in the ear, but these can be replaced easily enough. The player can lock up from time to time (rarely encountered this). It has a reset button on the side though, and the end of the earphone's jack plug is the right size to reset it.

I have bought two of these players, and would happily buy a third if my present player should ever need replacing. They are not too expensive to buy, are far from basic, and, in my opinion, represent great value for money.

        A little trooper of a MP3 that won;t die.

I have in fact had this little mp3 player for a good 5 years and it is still going! I have drop it, crushed it and flung it (accicdently:) ) and it will still work everytime.

The bright pink was what attracted me and have found the design to be very good. With only 9 buttons all together it is very simple to use and only took me a few mins to master. This is small enough to fit into my pocket comfortably even my skinny jeans!. It also has a button that with one touch you can lock the buttons.

I have found that I have put about half of every song I own on this mp3 and still I have a little over half of the memory left and have never had to delete any to make room.
The home screen is very simple and also has a few different colours to change the background to so it's not to boring.

I think the main postive is how far it has come as I have really played this mp3 to death and it will stil play everytime without complaints.

Although I love this little MP3 it does have some flaws. Firstly if like me and like to scroll really fast when you know what song you want this might fustrate you. Firstly the scroll speed is a tad slow. There is also a alphabeat down the side so you can skip to the first letter of songs, i'm sorry to say this hardly ever works properly.

The only other flaw I can find is like a computer it can tend to frezze every so often it will never stop the music but you might not be able to change the song. Although this never happened in the first few years so am putting this down to it's age.

All in all a very good MP3 for the price. Won't let you down, probably not for someone who wants something like an I-pod touch with all the gizmo's but good enough to fill your head with music on long journeys. And I am going to contuine using this MP3 until it dies completly which I don't see happening anytime soon. :)

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Decent enough for the price, not perfect but does the job

When my 2gb mp3 player just wasn't offering me enough space anymore, I decided to upgrade to something with a little bit more memory. I really wanted an ipod, of course, but being somewhat skint, opted for this, since it was the cheapest mp3 player I could find with this capacity.
It is basically a good enough mp3 player, as long as you don't expect too much of it. If you just want it to play your music, and to be able to scroll through artists, albums and tracks - it's great!
The battery life is a definite pro - I charge mine every few months, and use it every time I drive anywhere, hooked up to one of those converter thingies. Not having to think about charging it all the time is great. It even charges itself quite quickly if you're just adding tracks and take a bit of time choosing them!
It does have some cons however... it's frozen up on me so badly in the past that I've feared it had died completely. I couldn't get it to turn on for 3 days, but eventually managed to get my pc to recognise it, and reformated, which did the trick.
It freezes up if you try to use the feature to scroll through the alphabet on the right hand side in any of the views... I have never managed to get this feature to work for me. I'm alright with just scrolling through til I find what I'm looking for though, so no biggie.
If you actually fill it, it will skip, which is VERY annoying. So leave a few mb free space on there.
Basically good for the price though, and I've had mine for many years! Would only upgrade for more memory, but that's a luxury I can't afford!

brilliant if you're not fussed about itunes

I had this for christmas about 3 years ago and its still going strong, the screen cracked about a year ago but it still plays as new (even though i can't see what song is on).
Being a zen, it has trouble with itunes, but if you know your way around the "my computer" section of your machine, you can bypass the horror that is windows media player. Another drawback of it not being from apple is that it is'nt as user friendly as an ipod, but then what is?
It has a fantastic battery life, and can be charged with anything that has that funny charging terminal that ps3 controllers have, and i'm not sure if it came with it, but i've somehow aqcuired a charger that plugs into the wall, something i've not seen for ipods before.
In short, what it lacks in functionality and user interface pointlessness, it more than wins back in sheer fearlessness. i go to bed every night safe in the knowledge that if someone where to break into my house, my zen mozaic would kick its head in.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Really good cheap mp3 player that does what it's meant to do!

I actually have the pink version of this model, which at the time was exclusive to a well known high street catalogue shop we all know and use!
Ok I am bad at reviewing things that have loads to talk about so I'll do my best and try to split into sections about this lil' dude.

          Useability:
At first seems simple, you turn on with the play button which you press and hold for a few seconds, and you do the same action to switch the unit off. Buttons on the unit are what i'd say engraved, but not exactly with the functions they serve. Menus are easy to use and for the screen quality, easy to read. I have had a few niggles with trying to browse through my artists. There's an A-Z list on the right hand side for quick browsing of artist/album name, although on my player, past the letter H it doesn't seem to work, it would love going to the letter S and staying there. I also had to wait about half a minute after pressing the down or up button to browse before it'd actually start to move up and down the screen.

          Quality:
For a small tiny ditty player, I have to say, fab quality and in all creative products its the same. Bass boosts are fab, no 'tinny' sounds (Unless you have terrible headphones!) everything is sweet! Screen quality is a little to be desired, yet for a screen that's so small I doubt people would want to use this to view and hold pictures on.

          Battery Life:
AMAZING. That's it. I've had this player for over a year, I listen to it for over half an hour everyday (With also skipping tracks and changing volume alot) and it still takes up to a month before the battery runs low and needs a quick charge from my laptop!

          PC to Player:
Pretty good! Recognised as plug and play (In windows) and pops up to open its own little window with folders, it really is a case of dragging and dropping required objects into the appropriate folders and that's that. The speed in which things transfer is pretty good too, I cannot fault on how quick a song shoots over to it!

Overall, except for the menu niggles (Which could be my own players problem, im not sure if it's a universal thing) it'd be a great player for young kids who can be destructive (It's a robust little thing and its cheap!) and great for people who just want something cheap thats for on the go. If you want a snazzy little thing with bells on, i would look somewhere else, but for the up-to-date basics? Here's your answer.

Excellent little MP3 player for those who don't want to fork out over £100 on an ipod

I LOVE this MP3 player. I have read the other review on here but we have had no such problems. This was actually purchased for my daughter but we pretty much share it as i like using it out on walks.

We have the pink version. It looks pretty awesome and modern. The battery length is fantastic. Seems to go on forever!

This is very reasonably priced for an MP3 player with 8gb memory. The menus are easy enough you use - as demonstrated by my seven year old who mastered it pretty quickly. It is very easy to load songs on to it using the software. The sound quality is excellent

My daughter asked for an ipod nano but we felt she was a bit too young to have a £100 mp3 player. Perhaps we will splash out on one in a few years when she is in her teens. This was the perfect alternative as it is similar looking without the price tag. Stores pictures well but we have not tried loading videos onto it yet.

I was so impressed with it that i recommended it to my Mum who bought the black one for my brothers 8th birthday.

My only negative is that the earphones that came with it were not very comfortable.

Definitely a great alternative to a Nano if you don't want to spend too much money

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A rubbish mp3 player, the low cost does not make up for the fact it skips songs and freezes.

After my Beloved Ipod Nano lost was drowned in a sea of lemonade, I decided to purchase the Creative Zen Mozaic. It cost only £50 for 8gb, a video player, recorder, built in speaker and of course came from a well known brand I felt it was a brilliant choice...but how wrong was I, I will break this down into simple short pro's and con's...

          Pros -

          - Good Battery Length, 34h +
          - Fm radio
          - Big 8gb memory

          Cons -

-Firstly the built in speaker would not work, and there was no button or instructions for how to turn it on, it's almost as if it never existed
          - About 25 percent of all the songs I listened to SKIPPED, for a brand new mp3 player to do this I was outraged and incredibly annoyed.
          - The buttons are very slow and tricky to use, and when i tried pushing buttons whilst I was listening to music the screen freezes.
          - The screen quality was awful, the video and picture feature was pointless because of this.

Conclusion... Considering the features of the phone and it's low price it would make most think it was worth a buy, but it is incredibly low in quality in every feature, and it is not worth a buy.
