Creative Zen V 2 GB
Advantages: Really really really really pretty
Disadvantages: some crashes and weird recordings
The little Zen V has been my Mp3 player for more than 3 years, with a brief period of replacement in between. To be honest, I really should get a replacement, but I just don't have the money to upgrade anything.
Despite this, I maintain that this little player is one of the best I've come across. The main reason is it's looks. There may be sleeker ipods and mp4s around now, but at the time, it was the most handsome, sophisticated, all round good looking music player around. It was like the Megan Fox of the mp3 world.
But, not being too shallow, the Zen had also many useful qualities. I, personally, found the sound quality amazing, and it's controls were more than easy to use. The simplistic buttons looked good and was really easy to use. Looking back, I remember that it didn't take that long to get used to it.
The interface was also great, I like the ability to make playlists as you go so easily. There was minor annoyances though, like how it was impossible to play all in artists, and if the song didn't have any known artists or album, then it just doesn't show up on the screens.
There was also some problems with mine. Perhaps its due to a series of drops that it suffered from, but it kept going on recording unless you hold it a certain way (I've mastered that now!) and sometimes it just crashes. I've had to reset it a couple of times. Though this wouldn't be a problem if you were in an area with a lot of minuscule objects, if you're on the road or bus to somewhere, you might have to face quite a long time of boredome.
Overall though, amazing player. Though a little outdated now, I would advise you to buy it if you were looking for a cheapish mp3 player from the good old days when there were other things than ipods.
Summary: worth it!
