A little while ago Iomega, one of the leaders in digital storage, created a laptop-specific portable drive called the Clik drive. Smaller than a Zip drive, this replaced the cartridges with small discs each capable of holding 40Mb of information. The drive wasn?t a big success, but the way they have decided to use the discs now is quite brilliant. MP3 players are all the rage, smaller than portable CD players are and with no skip. However the downside is the small memory amounts. The most a lot of the players offer is 64Mb, with the odd offering up to 128Mb. The trouble with most MP3 players is that they have limited music storage, 64MB holding only an hours worth of memory, with each upgrade costing around £100. This is why the Iomega HipZip is special, very special indeed. Instead of having flash memory cards, it uses PocketZip discs (or click!) to store all you loved tunes on. With each 40MB disc only costing around £10, the HipZip is the first MP3 player with the option of carrying around huge amounts of music, literally. Although there are "juke box" style MP3 players out there, but they have built in hard discs, so even then the storage may be massive but it's still limited. The HipZip is very ...
