Iriver Clix2 8 GB ... is the second iRiver product I have owned and it is a vast improvement on my old iHP120 hard-drive player. Most notably, this is a flash based player so there are no moving parts. My old iHP120 used to skip whilst I was jogging, there is no such problem with the Clix 2. The solid state memory means skipping is a thing of the past. Another bonus is that it s far less likely to break should you be careless enough to drop it (the moving parts in hard-drive players can get messed up if they take a knock). The only let down is the storage capacity. 8GB is not a lot if you want to store a lot of movies etc. Hard-disk players offer better value for money in this respect. ... Iriver H120 20 GB ... have owned this player for over 5 years now, and what an absolute cracker it has been. Yes, in this day and age of video players, MP4, wifi etc it has fallen way behind the pack leaders, even from iRiver s own output, but the fact that it is still going strong 5 years later with a battery that lasts and lasts (and lasts) is real credit to the great design and build of this device. I bought for its sound quality at the time and the fact that it played OGG, WMA etc in addition to MP3. Additionally, the iHP range had the much under-rated optical in and out jacks (where have they gone from this generation s iPods and the like?!) As I said earlier, the battery lasts forev... iRiver H320 20 GB ... onto this, including music, picture and text files. It plays a variety of different file types including the uncompressed flac files and the sound is excellent. It can be slow loading up if it is quite full but all you need to do is visit the mysticriver site and you can find plenty of information about the open source firmware Rockbox. It s simple to download and put on the player and the Iriver becomes very fast loading up, however much is on it and it can easily be customised to look however you want it to. As it is open source, it gets modified and improved all the time. I never had any problems with the years I used Rockbox.You still have the original firmware...
