It turns on and off via the play/ pause button on the front. There is a hold button to stop it turning it's self on in your bag. This is found on the top along with the volume switch and menu button. I have had this Mp3 player for about 4 years now and it is still going strong! I'm not one to take my music everywhere with me hence why I'm not part of the Ipod crew and obsessed with getting the new touch screen ones... In all honesty I got it as a hand me down from my brother who is part of that group that think unless it is an iPod it's not worth having. I've got better things to spend my money on!
