I am surprised by some of the bad reviews on this product, as I purchased it and had hardly any problems with it whatsoever. The instructions were clear to understand and it was very easy to put music onto the player. The audio was clear and of high quality and the headphones were comfortable, with 2 sets of replacement heads.
The display is clear and the touch pads are fairly easy to control however, sometimes it would scroll through music so quickly that you would end up accessing the wrong item. The main display colour and brightness can also be changed to suit whatever mood you are in. The fact that the touchpads light up make the player attractive and it can be used in the dark.
The fact that the player is 6gb means that there is a lot of space for music however, pictures do take a lot out of the 6gb, so I would recommend getting a player with a higher number of gb's if you wish to put pictures on your player. I did also find that the player is much bulkier than it appears in the pictures, making it less stylish than many on the market at the moment. Also, although a slip on sleeve is provided to 'protect' the player mine still somehow got very scratched on the screen, as it is not protected by the sleeve. There are also a few scratches on the parts protected on the sleeve, and these scratches are very obvious due to the shine to the player.
This MP3 layer is an insult to all other mp3 players out there which actually work. The thing constantly freezes up on you (upon which you have to restart it by pressing the volume up and power key together).
When it freezes the thing will keep playing through the playlist, wasting your power but refuses to take any kind of instruction from you, the owner.
The picture slideshow function sounds nifty, if only I could get it to work. This thing has a wonderful knack to stay away from logic and ease of use, everything you do with it must be an adventure in of itself!
For 6 gigs you get a good number of songs, and the windows media player sync ability works out quite well in that regard, but nothing else really works up to snuff.
The picture looks alluring but I assure you those buttons and lights are very tacky and cheap looking once you get it. The touchscreen and pads get dirty very quickly.
You can adjust the volume after you locked the keys, a feature that for some reason wasn't available in some other mp3 players I owned.
On the contrary to the Philips HDD1620 6.1G player. My HDD1630 6G player turned out to be a black brick with ear buds. With a fresh install of Windows XP professional and updated WM10, not recognized by media player or firmware manager. I was able to download a patch from Philips and get my PC to regognize it as a USB device but that's it. Not accessable through anything after two days straight. I called Philips and it's on it's way back for replacement. I am in hopes that it is defective and a new one will work out as great as the reviewed HDD1620.
This mp3 player is great!!
There I said it, diving head first into a statement that leads you thinking, prove it!!
I can't prove it, but I can tell you a little why I think it is great!! 1st off, it looks great, going through any mp3 player section, this one stands out, shiny with blue on it!! Well at least I think it looks good!!
I first came across this mp3 player when my house mate came back from visiting his parents with a big grin on his face!! Instead of a boring journey on the train, listening to otehrs talk about the news of the day and what shoes they were going to wear that evening, he listened to his favorite tunes, humming away as the countryside zoomed past. Why I hear you shout, shutup I hear most scream, well he had the Phillips Go Gear HDD1620 6.1 GB.
Pricey at about £160, it is average for what is on the market. With storage of around 1500 songs, who can complain. Now some geeks will say theirs holds more, this does that and that does this. Well, I have news for you, if you can listen to 1500 songs and get bored, you need a kick up the arse, and need to stop changing your styles so quickly.
It is easy to chop and change tracks. Anyone wiith a computer, well most, will have windows media player. The mp3 comes with a cd that updates wondows MP to the latest version and allows you to transfer all files across. Very quickly and painlessly. Make a cup of tea, select the tracks, click a button, finnish you tea and off you go. Its that easy. With many mp3 players you have to install new softwear, but not woth this one!!
With an easy to use interface you can scroll around with speed. However, a few little buttons on the side confuse many, often you find yourself going back to the beginning of a song when trying to go to the music menu. A little tricky at first, but once mastered, its easy to use and very well laid out. Quick scroll, playlists and random play, its all you need. Any extra features on other mp3 players is just showing off. Who uses them really? Be honest!!
Photo quality isnt the best, and you cannot play via a computer either, if you can, tell me how!! But, sound quality is great, fantastic headphones come as standard and a rubber cover also.
I would reccomend this device to anyone who wishes to buy one. It looks better than an Ipod too!!
