The main display colour and brightness can also be changed to suit whatever mood you are in. The fact that the touchpads light up make the player attractive and it can be used in the dark. The fact that the player is 6gb means that there is a lot of space for music however, pictures do take a lot out of the 6gb, so I would recommend getting a player with a higher number of gb's if you wish to put pictu...more

Premium Review Philips GoGear HDD1620 6 GB: Not worth it's salt, an insult to working mp3 players! (202 words)
by - written on 02/08/08 (Very useful, 102 readings)
Rating:

This MP3 layer is an insult to all other mp3 players out there which actually work. The thing constantly freezes up on you (upon which you have to restart it by pressing the volume up and power key together). When it freezes the thing will keep playing through the playlist, wasting your power but refuses to take any kind of instruction from you, the owner. The picture slideshow function sounds nifty, if only I could get it to work. This thing has a wonderful knack to stay away from logic and ease of use, everything you do with it must be an adventure in of itself! For 6 gigs you get a good number of songs, and the windows media player ...  Read the complete review

This mp3 player is great!! There I said it, diving head first into a statement that leads you thinking, prove it!! I can't prove it, but I can tell you a little why I think it is great!! 1st off, it looks great, going through any mp3 player section, this one stands out, shiny with blue on it!! Well at least I think it looks good!! I first came across this mp3 player when my house mate came back from visiting his parents with a big grin on his face!! Instead of a boring journey on the train, listening to otehrs talk about the news of the day and what shoes they were going to wear that evening, he listened to his favorite tunes, humming ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Philips GoGear HDD1620 6 GB: Surprised by bad reviews!!! (260 words)
by - written on 16/08/09 (Useful, 13 readings)

I am surprised by some of the bad reviews on this product, as I purchased it and had hardly any problems with it whatsoever. The instructions were clear to understand and it was very easy to put music onto the player. The audio was clear and of high quality and the headphones were comfortable, with 2 sets of replacement heads. The display is clear and the touch pads are fairly easy to control however, sometimes it would scroll through music so quickly that you would end up accessing the wrong item. The main display colour and brightness can also be changed to suit whatever mood you are in. The fact that the touchpads light up make the player attractive and it can ...  Read the complete review

Philips HDD1630 - A Brick with ear buds! (105 words)
by Rob - written on 17/11/06
Rating:

On the contrary to the Philips HDD1620 6.1G player. My HDD1630 6G player turned out to be a black brick with ear buds. With a fresh install of Windows XP professional and updated WM10, not recognized by media player or firmware manager. I was able to download a patch from Philips and get my PC to regognize it as a USB device but that's it. Not accessable through anything after two days straight. I called Philips and it's on it's way back for replacement. I am in hopes that it is defective and a new one will work out as great as the reviewed ...  Read the complete review
