I purchased this from my local supermarket, for the (don't leave it there) price of just £12.95. Since then i have used it every day, and have no complaints. The sound quality is good, excellent download speed, is easy to use, has basic and uncomplicated features, and its reliability, and durability, is second to none. It also has the added feature of being rechargable! Add to this, the price, and you are on to a winner here. There are better MP3's out there, but if its value for money your looking for, then look no further! The Phillips GoGear Sa2820 is a honest reliable, does everything it says on the tin, wont let you down Mp3 player, that you can use anytime, anywhere. I would recommend this product, as i have encountered no problems with it myself. It has replaced my dog as my best friend and constant companion, does'nt need feeding, and is easier to look after!
The size of the SA2820 makes it one of the most compact and lightweight player, only weighting 27 grams and 42 x 42 x 15 millimetre. However, this extremely small size comes with the compromise of not being able to play videos. Its size also makes it not possible to house a port for memory cards which could have been sued to boost the 2 GB memory that is not a huge amount of space.
In terms of battery stamina, it is quite outstanding. On average, providing 44 and a half hours of continuous audio playback. When using the supplied headphones, it provided a reasonable level of sound, however it was distorted because the headphones do not filter out background noise effectively enough, and there was an excessive amount of bass. Upon using an additional pair of headphones, there was a substantial increase in sound quality, especially with accurate and sharp highs with a consistent bass, without even increasing the volume.
The file transfer for this player is reasonably good, on average taking about 4.8 seconds to transfer 10 megabytes of audio files. The player is quite user friendly, its normal functions such as skipping a track is easy to use. Amazingly, the information about the track is quite clear and easy to read even though it is displayed on a tiny screen. A supplied manual is full of the essential information and it is easy to understand.
In addition to the bog standard features, the player also has a voice recorder. The volume can be limited which would prevent the volume exceeded the maximum level recommended, hence protecting your hearing.
Due to its compact size, it is ideal for use during sporting activities. There is a considerable start up delay which is reasonable. In terms of its constructions, it is build sturdily, meaning it is capable of withstanding the occasional drop or knock.
The player only supports Windows Vista and Windows XP.
I first received this MP3 player as a gift last summer and I still use it almost every day almost a year on. It's a very good MP3 player for what it costs and has the ability to hold 2GBs (approximately 500) of songs. It has the ability to record on it as well, which I have found to be a very useful feature.
When you turn the device on, you get a list of 5 options. The first is "Music" so that you can listen to music files which you've uploaded. The second is "Radio" which allows you to search for the station you want and listen to it, providing you are in range of the radio centre's broadcasting. The third is "Recordings" which is where you will find things you've manually recorded on it, either from the radio or from other devices. Then, you have the "Details" option where you can find out the details of memory usage and other properties of this device. The final one is "Settings" where you can customise it to your own preferences.
On the MP3 Player there are buttons that allow you to record, turn it on and off, play, pause, stop, turn the volume up and down and lock the screen so that no buttons can be pressed. I found this feature especially useful for when I have it in my pocket while listening to it.
All in all, I would highly recommend this MP3 Player becasue it doesnt cost the earth, it has the capability to record songs and listen to the radio and in general is a very user-friendly piece of equipment.
My friend has one of these and constantly has the piss taken. Despite this it's actually a very good piece of kit. OK might be a bit plasticy and not brilliantly well built, but for the money it's excellent. It will play normal mp3 files and at a high quality too. Up to 192kbps. 2Gb of memory is enough to hold about 500 songs. So not terrific capacity, but still impressive. It is also very portable and fits easily into a pocket - A real plus for me when in a hurry. It will take any normal headphones. It has some very handy extras, like the alarm clock and world clock. To sum up, this is an excellent mp3 player for £35.00. You get a lot of quality for not very much. I highly recommend it as a first mp3 player. OK, it's not iPod quality, but it is still impressive for the money. The only downside is the capacity is not amazing, however I don't know if Philips do other models with more memory... All in all a top device and great value for money.
