GoGear doesn't smash all expectations (Philips GoGear SA6045 4 GB)

This I picked up second-hand AFTER my Zen died on me. And so far, it hasn't disappointed me. It's really simple to use this, just install the software and plug it in. Also, you don't need the software to transfer music onto it, it can all be done through Windows Media player, cutting down a task for those not-so computer literate. With a mini USB plug, which are used on the majority of products nowadays, it's also easy to connect should you lose the cable provided.

One sticking point for me is the capacity. When I got it, it appeared to be enough for me, but as I'm adding more videos and less music, it seems that soon I'll be needing to upgrade to either the 8GB model or buy out of Philips, even though if I do that I'll be disappointed, as I'm used to the interface now.

There are still a few problems with the GoGear, apart from the low memory. Another is the interface, which uses as few buttons as possible, but makes it difficult to use when you first get it. Another is the amount of time to convert a file and get it on the player, I'd estimate to convert and copy three 45 minute videos it takes anywhere from 4-6 hours, and I don't always have the time to sit and do that! Battery life is another stickler, as it doesn't seem as good as it should be.

All-in-all, this is a good low-entry MP3 player, perfect for commuting, but not good for those of us with big music and video libraries.
