Advantages: compact unit with good sound and video quality
Disadvantages: doesn't accept files. somewhat of a problem
The picture and sound quality are both good - if you can get your video files transferred onto it! We've been in communication with Philips for weeks in order to try to get it to take video files converted using the conversion software supplied with it. The transfer starts off looking ok, but the unit disconnects itself from the USB about 10 seconds before the transfer is due to complete. Then it sits there for a further 5 minutes (still saying 10s left to go) and then says it can't do it because it's disconnected.
Even trying to copy the file manually results in the same 10-seconds-to-go disconect followed by failure. It's not just video files, but any file.
Updating the firmware has not fixed the problem.
It may just be a faulty unit, but who knows? They maybe all suffer this problem, perhaps the file size is a problem. but the unit under review was 8G with plenty free space.
In any case, if the unit had some sort of problem, it should have been able to produce a meaningful error message.
Summary: your mileage may vary but I'd avoid this one
