I have bought this MP3 player manufactured by Philips some time ago, long time before I got my new iPod Touch 4 and my HTC sensation smartphone. While the latter two can do what I stated in the heading, it was just in no way as convenient as this Philips tiny one. The Philips MP3 player still slips its way into my bag and doing its job very well.

MP3 Player
Obviously a MP3 player should do its job, i.e. playing the music. Putting music into the device is easy. You do not have to install any special programs (unlike iPod which requires you to use the iTunes). You connect the MP3 Player, drag the files into the folder and wait for the files to be transferred. Done! The sound quality is not superb but I don't think there's much to complain about either.

Portable Radio
I like listening to the radio. Although it sounds a bit outdated, I still think that a portable radio is the best way to get hold of the latest news. When something big happens, you may not be able to connect to the internet or make a call using your smartphone because the network will probably be down as there are so many people trying to use it. However, you can always use a radio and the radio stations will certainly bring the latest news to your attention. A radio may be more important to you as you think they are!

Recording device
This tiny MP3 player can be used as a recorder too. There is no limit to the size of the recording and you can record for as long as the available memory allows you. I occasionally take up some mystery shopping job which requires you to make a recording during your visit and this tiny MP3 player can be put in your bag easily without being discovered.

(Note: Mystery shopping is one of the methods that the service providers used to check their employees' performance. A person is engaged by the service provider or a mystery shopping company to conduct a visit to the designated shop or restaurant and to provide a report on his/her experience. There will be a guideline for you to follow and you have to do what they ask you to do. During the whole mystery shopping process, you have to remain anonymous and act like a normal customer. As a proof of your visit or to understand the employees' performance better, you are sometimes asked to make a recording of the conversation between you and the employee. There are a lot of websites which talk about mystery shopping if you want to know more but please be careful that some of them maybe a scam.)

USB Storage
This Philips MP3 player can be connected to the computer using a USB cable (which is included in the package). As said above, transferring music files to the MP3 player is easy. It is equally easy when it comes to transferring other types of file, e.g. word files. You just drag it into the folder and you are done. It comes in very handy if you have to save something and you do not have a USB storage device with you.

There are also some features of the MP3 player which I think it's very good. The battery life is very long (compared to iPod or smartphones). You can listen to the music for more than 20 hours continuously if fully charged. Besides, you can set a limit to the sound level. In that case, you do not have to worry that the music is too loud in a way that will damage your hearing!


In short, this MP3 player can do so many things and the price is quite low. How can I not love it?
