Advantages: Good sound quality, user friendly, compact, great software provided

Disadvantages: Good sound quality, user friendly, compact, great software provided

The Samsung YP-F2 has a rather modern industrial style, which gives it a rather compact and robust feel. In terms of design, it is aesthetically pleasing, with rounded edges and the ergonomic placing of buttons.

Thanks to its ultra small size, it only weights a mere 21 g and does have a strong resemblance to a cell phone or even an oversized car key fob from a distance. However, it does come with the compromise of not having additional features such as a built in microphone, radio capabilities, stopwatch or even a clock. The tiny display measuring 23 x 10 millimetres can't be used for anything else other than displaying track information.
When using the supplied headphones that also acted as a neck strap, which is useful and the "ideal" way that Samsung would want us to use it. The length is approximately 0.5m, which is quite short, hence why it is suited to run it behind your neck. In terms of the sound quality, it is quite good, with a reasonable output power that provides a balanced bass with a very little distortion. Upon using an additional pair of headphones, it produced slightly higher quality sound, without much difference.
There is also a supplied belt clip for the player, but it would be impossible to use it whilst listening to the player due to the length of the supplied headphones. The max volume for the player is not limited, therefore listening at full volume continuously for long time periods will damage your hearing.

As a whole, the player is quite user friendly, even though the size of the buttons are rather small and its small size makes it awkward to hold the player. Although the initial set up process is not the easier and most straight forward, the supplied software and guides are great to guide you though the entire process. The menu structure is well designed and easy to understand.

In terms of file transfer, the player takes about 0.15 seconds on average to transfer 10 megabytes of audio files, which is quite long. In order to transfer the file you need to use a supplied USB cable, which is also used to charge the player. Although it is possible to charge the player though the mains, the cable is not supplied. The player supports all audio files in the WAV, Ogg , MP3 and WMA file formats.

The battery stamina is only barely acceptable, on average providing up to 12 hours of continuous audio playback from a full charge which takes 120 minutes. The player is well constructed and quite robust, meaning it is capable of withstanding the occasional knock or drop.

Summary: As a whole the player is quite reasonable with certain some compromises for its size
