Advantages: very lightweight, incredibly pretty and easy to use

Disadvantages: can only be charged through a computer, no writing to tell you what song is being played

I got this MP3 player in purple as a christmas present because I'm a big fan of purple and my two year old 20GB Sony Walkman had decided to die a death on me so my mum wanted to get me something which would make train journeys a bit more bearable for me, as there are only so many loud mobile phone conversations you can tolerate!

Firstly a little bit about the Samsung
-It has 2GB of internal flash memory (although as far as I am aware it also comes in a 1GB model
-It has an LED function at the bottom which alternates between blue, green and magenta, based on the playback mode you have selected at the time
-As well as supporting mp3, the Samsung also supports in WMA and Ogg.
-It has 6 little buttons on it; volume up and down, play/pause(also the on/off button), skip buttons and a little button to select one of three playback options (these are standard, random and repeat)

The Samsung also comes complete with headphones, and installation disc and a usb jack for charging/transporting tracks

It comes in five different colours; purple, black, white, red and green.

When i first opened the gift I was actually shocked at how tiny it was! The picture on this site is pretty much the actual size of it. However, the picture doesn't do the mp3 player justice, as they are *much* more attractive in the flesh. Samsung have described them at looking like pebbles and its true-mine reminds me of one of those little pebbles you skim across water-very pretty indeed.

Also, the way the headphones are made means that when they're attached, its kind of like a necklace so the mp3 player hangs around your neck, and you can barely feel it, which is great!

Installation of the software for transferring music was very easy and I can't imagine even a computer novice having difficulty putting music onto this little thing.

Do not let the size of this mp3 player fool you into thinking that the sound quality won't be great, as this is not the case. I thought the songs sounded as if they were live, and whilst i'm not really a fan of headphones you put into your ear, the ones provided with this were very comfortable.

As opposed to any wires involved, yo're simply provided with a little headphone jack with a usb at the other end, which simply slots into the usb port of your computer so the mp3 player just sticks out the side (which, call me easily amused, I found adorable). You have to charge the mp3 player using your computer as you do not get a separate charger, which was no problem to me, but may put people off who prefer to charge things the traditional way. Also, for some reason the usb jack doesn't work in all usb ports (it says in the instructions that they don't always work in the front of a computer but if they don't then you can put it in a usb port in the back; given that all my usb ports are on the side, I was a bit panicked, but after not working in one port, I got it to work fine in another).

I would really recomend this mp3 player for someone who doesn't really need a massive amount of storage or for someone who does exercise (running etc) as its incredibly lightweight and very convenient to carry around. Its also exceptionally pretty and very easy to work, both when you're listening to music or putting music onto it.

My only problem with it is that there is no writing on it to tell you what song is being played-I suppose this isn't really too much of a problem in itself, and is probably expected given the size of the product, but being used to a larger mp3 player meant that it definitely took me a bit of getting used to.

Summary: love love love this dinky little mp3 player!!
