Advantages: Ability to expand memory capacity, average sound quality, user friendly,
Disadvantages: Battery stamina could be longer, software supplied is not ideal, photo quality is poor
Retro and stylish are probably the first impression that you get when looking at the Sandisk Sansa C250, with its zen theme and classy aesthetic appearance. The player is shaped like a packet of chewing gum, with a slightly glossy black finish and slim body. Its controls are placed ergonomically on the right hand side of the player, which are also illuminated with a blue led, making it easy to use the player in dark conditions or at night.
In addition to the built in memory capacity of the player, there is also a build in memory card reader, which allows you to increase the storage capacity by adding a Micro SD card. The build in FM radio also allows you to have up to 20 present stations which is quite good. There is also a build in microphone which is a handy feature to have on the player.
When using the supplied headphones, the sound quality is quite good with a fair mixture of treble and bass. The length of the cable is also quite long, which makes it convenient to use the player in a carry pouch that is placed in a bag or other places. Due to the fact that it is an ear headphone there is not problem with background noise distorting the quality of audio playback.
Upon using an additional pair of headphones, there was a better signal to noise ratio which is negligible, especially because there was only a minute improvement. The player supports audio file sin the WMA, Napster and MP3 file format. its file transfer is quite fast, on average taking about 2.3 seconds to transfer 10 megabytes of audio files.
The considerably small display screen, supports photo thumbnails and album art. It is also possible to view photos by converting them beforehand with the supplied headphones. However, the quality of the display photo is terrible, which is made worse due to the fact that you can't just transfer any photo without converting them first.
Its battery stamina is quite reasonable, on average providing up to 17 and a half hours of continuous audio playback from a full charge, which takes about 120 minutes. Over the player is user friendly, but it lacks a dedicated hold button and a feature to shuffle the tracks or play them in random order. It also uses a custom sized USB cable which can be a hassle and a problem if you lose it since you can't use a standard cable.
Summary: This is quite a basic player that lacks additional functions
