Sandisk Sansa Clip 8 GB
Advantages: Light weight, small and easy to use
Disadvantages: Clip can fall off sometimes
If i'm honest I think I've ordered around 10 mp3 players in my life time, all around the £50 price tag. I have never purchased an iPod, or any of the other more expensive players although with the amount I have spent on the cheaper versions I think this would have been worth it. However, after my last creative zen player broke (due to a run in with a concrete floor) I decided to give a less expensive player another go, and that gamle has paid off.
I purchase my Sansa Clip for £50 from amazon - it was from a private vendor and came in a polythene bag with all the usually bits (instructions, usb cable) so I can't comment on the packaging too much. I immediately got my player plugged into my laptop via the short USB cable - I think it being a short cable is useful, I can't understand the previous players I have brought which have almost half a metre worth of the stuff). I'm operating windows 7 at the moment and the player automatically installed the necessary drivers and then popped up with a handy sansa menu. Adding music to this little player works like a dream, I currently do it through windows media player, just create a sync list and press sync - it's done in a matter of minutes. I transferred 6GB of music to my player in a what seemed like a second.
I left the player plugged in for a while to give it some charge. I decided to take I'd try it on a run. Navigating the menu takes a little getting used too (probably because I didn't read the instructions) but after that it's a breeze, being able to browse your music whilst listening to your current playlist is a massive plus for me. You also have the ability to make recordings and delete songs directly through the player. The sound quality is great. My only reservation in that department would be that the earphones you receive are a poor design and kept falling out my ears. However, this might have been down to my strange shaped ears. Once I got a pair of in ear earphones sorted, I was good to go. The players quality is great and can get nice and loud.
If I was going to point out some criticisms of the player I'd say that the "clip" aspect is pretty poor. It can be detached from the player for those who don't want it there, however this means that if you have it clipped to you it can sometimes cause the player to fall off whilst the clip part stays attached. The remedy for this is to just put it in your pocket.
In conclusion, I think this player is fantastic value for money and I plan on looking after it!
Summary: A great player for anyone looking for something to use on the go
