Advantages: Fast file transfer, useful extra functions, good battery stamina, reasonable sound quality
Disadvantages: Quick start guide is not helpful
There is no denying that the Sansa Fuze does not look like an Ipod. From the position of its screen, the size of the screen in proportion to the size of the player. In addition to the existing memory capacity, the space can be further improved by using a memory card, specifically an Micro SD Card, which can be kept in the player's built in card reader. Its controls does have a striking resemblance to a speaker cone.
The headphones that are supplied are quite good with a balanced sound, however it does not filter out the background noise completely. Upon using an additional pair of headphones, the background noise was less noticeable. However, the improvement was only very small, therefore most users would find the supplied headphones sufficient for their needs.
Instead of using a standard USB cable, it uses a special one which makes it a potential hassle if you do lose the cable. In addition to the typical features, the player also has extra functions such as a volume limiter, voice recorder and radio capabilities along with the option to record it live.
The battery stamina is quite good, on average providing up to 28 and a half hours of continuous audio playback and around 6 hours of continuous video playback.
Its file transfer speed is also quite fast, on average only taking 2.7 seconds to transfer 10 megabytes of audio files. Its display screen is clear and the text is sharp which allows for easy reading of track information. It does support video playback and viewing pictures, when looking at photo its quality of the displayed image is not fantastic, however watching videos for short periods of time is only bearable.
This player allows you to create only one playlist whilst away from the computer, additional playlist can be created when it is plug in to the computer. The buttons are placed ergonomically and the menu system makes the player user friendly. The player is constructed sturdily and robustly, meaning that is capable of withstanding the occasional knock or drop. However, the guides provided with the player is not the most informative, making it a bit of an adventure to work out the player initially.
Summary: A nice package once you work out how to use it
