On first glance, the Sony NW-A1000 looks like a futuristic pod, with its rounded corners and sleek body. Its fantastic aesthetic qualities make it ideal and appealing to users that want to make a fashion statement. Its is clearly obvious that this player was designed with aesthetics as a primary objective, therefore it might not impress users that want a player that is rich in features,

Its battery stamina is quite good, on average providing up to 14 and a half hour of continuous audio playback. Other than the bog standard features, the player lacks additional features and functions such as a microphone or radio capabilities which would definitely be beneficial for the player. The player also does not support video playback nor the viewing of videos.

The player is compatible with audio files in the ATRAC and MP3 file format. The file transfer speed of the player is quite fast, on average taking 1.6 seconds to transfer 10 megabytes of audio files.
