Advantages: Small enough for your pocket and good sound quality
Disadvantages: Only chargeable via USB
I realise that I am writing about a MP3 player that is, in effect, now 3 years old so in technological terms it is likely considered extremely ancient. However, I have to write about this MP3 because it's been impressive since day one.
This was originally bought for me as birthday present, but at the time the market cost was around £130. As the market has now moved on a little, I've seen this on the internet now for as little as £20, so although probably not considered as being current and "with the times" this is still worth the expense if you don't want to pay too much for an MP3.
I particularly wanted a fairly small and slimline MP3 so that I could carry it easily. The time I fit my phone and keys and work ID into my pockets, I have little time for anything else. This also comes with a handy belt clip too so is very easy to carry around. The 512Mb memory means that you are obviously a little restricted as to what music you can put onto your MP3 but I find that this is perfect for me. 512Mb equates to roughly 12 average length albums. I actually find that this is plenty although do rotate my range every 4 months or so.
The sound quality is very good, and the buttons are all very user friendly. It also picks up FM radio, and again, the sound quality here is also very good.
One of the floors of this MP3 is that you can only charge it via USB. I tend to have a USB cable fairly nearby most of the time nowadays so can either charge at home or on my laptop at work. However, if you're going away on holiday for a few weeks you need to consider how often you choose to listen to your music, which seems a little silly to me. In addition, because you can only upload music in ATRAC3 format it means that you have to load Sony Sonic Stage onto the PC from which you are downloading music.
Overall I am very satisfied with this MP3. I must reiterate that although it is coming up for 3 years old, it has been reliable, plays good quality music and is a perfect size for somebody that doesn't like carrying too much around with them.
Summary: Holds just enough albums without being too heavy in your pocket
