Advantages: Many features, FM Radio, Reasonable Price Range, Karaoke Mode, Sensme, Superb Sound Quality, Battery
Disadvantages: Flimsy buttons, Small Screen Size
The device is very light and fits nicely into a pocket, or even tight jeans. It has a sporty look, with a nice finish that shines. The player itself feels very sturdy, definitely not made of cheap material. However, I felt the buttons were a little too flimsy. I sometimes felt that I had pressed too hard or they would fall out. The volume button is on the side of the player, and it has a nice range (meaning it can get very high or very low). There's also a convenient hold button, which let stopped me from accidentally skipping to the next track (usually when I keep it in my bag or pocket).
The player sports a mini-usb port at the bottom, which is a very commonly used method of transporting data from a device to a computer. The headphone jack (normal headphone jack ; 3.5 mm.) is near the bottom of the device as well, and does not get in the way of the screen when the device is being used. The headphones included are comfortable, and relatively long.
Transferring music is a breeze, and this device is bundled with its own software, allowing the device to import tracks from iTunes, or Windows Media Player 11. As a more important alternative, you can drag and drop mp3, aac, or wma files directly onto the device (like a common mass storage device). I felt this was important as it really simplifies the data transfer process.
The device has two peculiar features, karaoke mode, and Sensme. Karaoke mode is used to lower the original vocals, allowing the user to sing-a-long to a certain song. If there is a song lyric file, the device will display the lyrics on the screen, as the file plays. Pitch can be adjusted for any user, allowing the song to fit the user. Sensme is a feature that the device can use to pick songs for the user. I personally didn't use this feature very much, but it basically chooses songs and fits them to a certain theme. These themes include energetic, upbeat, morning, extreme, and relax. The device analyzes the song tone to determine which theme fits the best. This feature is optional.
The Sony NWZ-E453B contains common features such as shuffle, song looping, and a variety of song modes, such as club, live, and arena. Equaliser options include Jazz, Pop, and Heavy. The Sony NWZ-E453B also has FM Radio, an important feature for some users, and other features such as an alarm clock.
Video playback is fast and slick. The Sony NWZ-E453B sports wmv, avc, and mpeg4 playback, and can auto-convert media files (with the bundled software).
All in all, the Sony NWZ-E453B is a device that certainly gives you your money's worth. It's a device that any owner would be proud to own and use. It contains a variety of features, and sports a slick interface and look. Definitely a buy for any user who is looking for a less costly device that serves to play music well.
Summary: Well-made device that has superb sound quality, boasts many features, and has a reasonable price.
