Advantages: Slim, stylish, great sound quality, great video quality.... the list goes on!
Disadvantages: None
This mp3 player rocks! I bought the Sony NWZ-A818 just over a year ago when I accidently dropped my old Sony in the car park and killed it! Luckily it was insured so I popped along to Argos to buy a new one. I was looking for another Sony as I think their players have great sound quality and are built to last (if you don't chuck them around that is!) and this one caught my eye. I bought it in black as at the time this was the only colour available in the 8Gb version. It now also comes in pink and white. There are also 2 and 4 Gb versions of this product available.
This mp3 player has a sleek design with a fairly large screen. At it's thinnest point it is only 8.3mm and it weighs next to nothing. I was a bit paranoid of wrecking this player too so bought a clear hardshell plastic case for this. I'm not one for reading manuals from cover to cover and this mp3 player is great as it is very intuative to use. There is a large button on the front of the player that you can use to navigate and it also has a power off button. On the back there is a hold button so that it doesn't accidently start playing when it's in your pocket.
There is no software that comes with this player - you can simply drag and drop from windows to the mp3 player! This is one of the best features of the player -no confusing sonic sage to use or itunes to install. You can search for songs by genre, folder, album, artist or year. It is also possible to load album cover art.
The player can accept various file formats - mp3, wma, aac and works with Windows XP and Vista.
This player can also play videos and has a 2" screen for viewing these. The quality of the video display is amazing! The pictures are sharp and crystal clear and the colours are fantastic! You can also load photos on to the player and use it as a portable photo album.
The player comes with a usb charging cable which you hook up to your pc. It takes around 3 hours to charge the player. I use it almost everyday and the battery life I would say is pretty good, usually lasting around 5 days. Sony ear phones are also supplied. I have to also say that the phones are amazing - they're the in-ear type and usually I have such difficulty with finding phones that sit comfortably in my ear but these are perfect!!
In short I can't fault it! Go buy one!!
Summary: Fantastic player - can't fault it!
