Being a Sony, this MP3 player is blessed with a slim, modern and elegant styling. As usual, it has the Walkman logo centre in the middle, making it stand out with the colour contrasts. Its display screen is approximately 4.9 x 3.7 cm, dominating most of the space on the front of the player. It supports watching videos and viewing pictures, although the quality of the display is sharp and clear, it is still not ideal for watching videos for a long period of time.

Placed directly beneath the screens are the controls which include a back and option, and also a 4 way directional control pad. Its menu structure is similar to its range if mobile phones, in fact most mobile phones, which makes it easy to adapt to, especially because it works fantastically. The player is quite user friendly, since everything is straightforward and easy to understand.

The player's Bluetooth capabilities can be controlled via a buttons placed conveniently. However, the player must be connected to the computer via a supplied USB cable which is not standard, therefore if you lost the cable it would be a hassle.

When turning on the player, you'll be pleased to know that the is no start up delay. Its battery stamina is quite good, on average providing 41 and a half hours of continuous audio playback, and about 11 hours of continuous video playback. It takes about 120 minutes to fully charge the player, making it quite a fast process. Its file transfer speed is very fast, on average taking only 6 seconds to transfer 10 megabytes of audio files.

When using the headphones supplied, the sound is very sharp and clear. It also provides another pair of headphones which are wireless Bluetooth, which also give an excellent sound quality. Upon using an additional pair of headphones purchased separately, there was a slight improvement, since both the supplied headphones are remarkable.

The player is compatible with all audio files in the AAC, both unprotected and protected WMA, MP3 file formats. It only supports videos in the MPEG-4 file formats.
