Sony Walkman NW-HD5 20 GB
by NeilG1 - written on 06/10/07 (Useful, 84 readings)
Rating:
time goes by. It has several sound options and sound is clear. The headphones provided are of Sony s usual high standard and it is quite a bit cheaper than the Ipod. For the amount of songs you can fit on it, you would pay about a 100 pounds more for an ipod. Though it lacks a colour screen and video features like some of the newer players on the market. It is a very reliable player that doesn t tend to go wrong. Whilst Ipods have a tendency to break down, any system errors I ve has have righted themselves just by turning it back on. Overall it s an efficient and stylish player all round and a great choice for music lovers. would highly ...
Sony Walkman NW-HD5 20 GB

Rating:
suppose to be a few grams heavier than its previous incarnation, the NW-HD3). As for its battery life, the stated 40 hours might be a little exaggeration on Sony s part, an inspect of the fine print would note that this only holds when playing back files compressed at 48kbps ATRAC3Plus compression. The user manual states 30 hours for playback of normal 128kbps MP3. Even estimating it conservatively and giving it only 20 hours, it s still 8 hours longer than a 20gig Ipod which lasts for around 12 hours. The supplied Li-ion battery is also user removable and replaceble. You are suppose to be able to walk into any Sony store and buy a replacement battery once you run it ...
Sony Walkman NW-MS11 128 MB

Rating:
a keyring attachment in the box but I can't think who'd want to place £300 worth of audio gadgetry on their keys, except for the "Hey, look at my Walkman - it fits on my keyring!" value. The MS-11 arrives with a 128Mb ' ;MagicGate' memory stick, which at the lowest ATRAC3 encoding rate (66Kbps - remember, it's higher quality than MP3, so this probably equates to around 96Kbps using MP3 encoding) can hold 4-5 CDs worth. The lower level doesn't really seem to differ in quality from the intermediate encoding rate (105kbps - at least, with my ears) but ...
