Sony NWZB162 B Series
by jjrose
I love listening to music whether it is from my laptop, phone or ipod. However, one thing I always find difficult is to listen to music when I'm exercising because neither my phone nor my ipod has an attachable clip that will make it portable yet light. So, when I receive the Sony NWZB162 B walkman as a present from one of my distant ... relatives for as a college graduation present, I knew I found a good use for the present.
The product I got as a present is pink and black in colour, I'm not a big fan of the colour pink but the product colour scheme is quite easy on the eye; it is blossom pink rather than hot pink, which helps a lot. The design is very easy to store in my bag and carry around. It is quite small to fit into small zip pouches as well; the dimensions are 90 x 23.3 x 15.2 cm and weighs just under 30 grams. The buttons are pretty standard so I had no problem when I used this for the first time.
As for the functions, on top of playing the music, it also has a hold button so that it doesn't play music when I accidentally press the button, which happens a lot with me. It also has LCD display and the light flashes when the walkman is busy. To be honest, my favourite thing about this walkman is that it can easily be attached to my clothes when I'm working out so that I can listen to my favourite tracks and keep fit at the same time. Since it's so light, it doesn't interfere when I'm moving about and it weighs pretty much next to nothing. The clip that comes with the walkman is detachable so you can remove it if you're not using it much as well.
The storage capacity is 2 GB, which is pretty big considering the size and the price of this product. I checked online and this product costs around £30.00, so it's quite reasonable. I've got a lot of music on my laptop but I only sync around 100 tracks or more depending on what I feel like listening to. It is quite easy to sync music, I use my desktop and Windows media player to sync. The speed is not the fastest, it would take about a minute to sync an album with 10-12 tracks but a minute in my opinion is pretty fast, so no complaints from me in that regard.
The built-in battery life is pretty good as well and it can easily be charged via USB connection, since I use either my laptop or PC all the time, I just plug it on for about 30 minutes every other day. The battery has never died on me and if I'm taking a 3 hour journey from university to home and play the walkman all the way on the train, the battery life still stays strong when I get home.
All in all, the product is very useful and quite nifty for music lovers on-the-go. It's very light weight and durable; it is still performing very well despite my rough handling and all the falls and bumps. I think they've chosen a good present for me, and I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a portable music player that gives the money's worth.

Sony NWZB162 B Series

=Sony NWD B105=
I do have my old faithful MP3 player a 256mb, which at the time was top of the range, which still works, but I wanted something a bit more update and a larger memory. I choose this Sony Model, as I really wanted a clip facility on my MP3 player, and I find that Sony and have always found that Sony has a strong ... reputation in the electronics market.
=The Technical=
* Product - Flash based digital player with voice recorder function
* Size - height 2.3cm, width 9cm, depth 1.5cm
* Weight - 28cm
* Memory - 2GB
* Colour - Black, although there were other colours available - red and blue
* Sound - Stereo output, - bass boost to audio with 5 band equaliser
* USB memory
* Zap feature - can whip through the song selection
* Quick charge facility /long charge
* Running time - up to 18 hours
* Detachable clip
=How easy is it to charge=
I found this model really easy to charge I had to slip the cap off the USB and pop into an usb socket, which as I'm always on the computer, it's not a problem for me. Whilst the MP3 player is charging, there is a blue light that flashes intermittently, once charged the light goes out.
There are two options to charge the MP3 player, you can give it a quick blast, and a 3 minute charge will give you 70 minutes of playing time or a full charge of 70 minutes gives you up to 18 hours of music
=Upload the music=
This was another simple task, I am not the most technical person going, but just uploaded the Cds onto the laptop, and popped the device on, it registered and then I just dragged across, it took about 10 minutes to load 10 albums on.
=Using the MP3 Player=
The clip is detachable, but clips on very easy, and once clipped onto any clothes or bag strap, it stays in place, even stretching, moving, the mp3 player stayed on perfectly.
=The Ear-phones=
The ear phones supplied were ok, they were in the ear style, and were black to match the mp3 player, there perfectly serviceable.
=Volume Control=
The volume control is on a little button on the top of the mp3 player, I found this easy to use, even if the mp3 has been clipped on, I don't need to unclip the MP3 player, and so it's all very handy.
=How to choose the music=
The machine has the option of playing through the tracks as you have them, or you can use the "Sony Zappit facility" which plays a snippet of the chorus of each of the song, or just let it stop where it whets to and you get a surprise.
=The Blue LCD Display=
There is a chaser style light, that goes around when the mp3 player is in use.
=Plus Point - The Hold Button=
I find this a really useful addition on the mp3 player, as the hold button avoids any other buttons being pushed at the wrong time, I also use it when I have the MP3 player, is switched off, as like most women's handbags, I carry everything but the kitchen sink, so it saves wasting the battery. Although I will admit the first couple of times I kept thinking the MP3 player wasn't working, but I needed to unlock the hold button.
* The blue LCD display is pretty good - there's a kind of chaser-light which whizzes around the circular part at the front of the walkman, so that you can see when it is busy.
=Price=
I paid £25 for mine that was about 12 months ago, although the model is still available on Amazon, at prices starting at £30, there is a newer model, which does look nice.
=Memory=
For me I have about 130 songs on the MP3 and there is still some room for more, if you wanted a lot more songs then this isn't the one for you, but for a basic but good Mp3 player this is an ideal purchase.
=Sound=
My MP3 has a wide range of songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber through to Mealtloaf, and I find that the
bass boost comes in very handy as if I want to alter the depth of the bass I can, you alter to duit the style of musis played
=Would I recommend=
I would recommend this as an entry level MP3 player, one that will pay your music, without any problems. Read the complete review |
