One of the compromise of having such a thin player would be the quality of the display screen. The player has a good menu structure that is designed well, along with sensitive controls, this player is undoubtedly user friendly. When using the supplied headphones, the sound produced was exceptional with clarity and a good output power, which gives consistent bass. The time of the Sony NW-HD5 s release, the iPod Nano had only just been released and the 20GB iPod still had a black & white screen. I got this mp3 player as a gift in October 2005 and it is still working till this day. At the time the pricing was around £200 for a 20GB iPod, so instead of following the crowd I thought I d try something different and purchased one of these. 20GB is more than enough, since purchasing I have transferred FULL albums, not having to worry about using up the space with its storage capacity. Sony NWD-B103 ... The music settings and EQ are easy to tweak and it gives you a choice of Rock/pop.classical/dance etc or you can creae your own. The sound quality is very good. The player is easy to charge as there are no cables and you charge it by plugging straight into USB. The music is transferred by drag and drop or simply connecting to windows media player and syncing the device. The layout of the buttons are great and you can use the hold function to stop the player switching on or skipping track while its in your pocket. The battery life is pretty good at around 12 hours but maybe slightly less. Overall It is perfect for what I need. Another well designed Sony product....
