Advantages: Great look and sound quality
Disadvantages: Pricey
My husband bought me this lovely radio after me moaning that I had no music to bop along to in the kithen whilst I was cooking.
This radio in my opinion is the perfect kitchen radio. It looks undeniably gorgeous - either in the chrome as shown in the picture, or cream which is the colour of mine. Somehow the styling is both retro and modern at the same time. It has fab curvy lines and is so very smooth and lovely to touch.
On the top are two shiny knobs (one for volume and one for tuning), which twist and click very satisfyingly around.
You can tune this either to AM or FM and can have 5 presets for each mode, and they are so easy to tune (and this is from a complete technophobe). The sound quality is excellent - really clear and rich and boy when you turn it up it can certainly belt out the music.
I really like the clear display panel at the top, which shows which channel is playing with a great blue light.
Although this is a mains powered radio, it also has a rechargeable battery which lasts up to 4 hours, so can be moved about the house or used in the garden. Also very handy during power cuts which we seem to be getting all the time last winter.
Added features include a kitchen egg time timer, alarm and snooze function.
Currently this retails at £175, though when my husband bought it it was slightly less at £150. It is available from Dualit online or John Lewis. This is therefore an expensive but quality piece of kit, and one that I intend to love for many years.
I love this radio - looks fab against my other kitchen gadgets and sounds amazing. Yes it is pricey, but in this case, you are paying for quality.
PS - just noticed the Processing/Quality item below - although there is no processing on a radio, I am just going to rate on the "Quality" of the item.
