Advantages: Reception is crystal clear, I managed to get reception through double glazing,as it rains all the time in manchester., Large LCD display

Disadvantages: While using worldspace, batteries can run out quite fast., A slight movement of the antenna greatly affects reception., Some stations broadcast only for a limited time.

I have been using this portable worldspace receiver for 6 months now.

In that time i think i have evaluated it thoroughly enough.I have used it in kenya, east africa, and in the united kingdom;Manchester and scotland.
These areas are covered by the Afristar beam, scotland being on the outer most part of coverage.
In my opinion,it is quite a brilliant piece of equipment. For the price you pay for it it is definitely a wise buy.
In summary i have here it's pros and cons (some of them)

Pros: 1.Simple operation and electrical compatibility.
2.Simple assembly.

cons: 1.When you put the power off, preset stations may be erased,so you have to leave it on stand-by.
2.Doesn't produce sound in stereo unless connected to an amplifier via lineout.

It is quite an investment to pay this sort of money in order to listen to about 40 or so stations on the Worldspace satellites. (I realise that it's an ordinary radio as well). But are these Worldspace stations actually worth listening to? What kind of stations are they? Do you spend more time listening to WS stations or to the normal "terrestrial" stations? And where can I find this radio at the price you quote? IThe best price i have seen is £139.95, and it is £10 more than that almost everywhere that stocks the item.
