I am a fan of my simple and yet stylish Panasonic RF-2400 Radio which cost me around the thirty quid mark online about a year or so ago. I use it most days, mainly for when I am shaving or applying creams etc in the bathroom on a morning before I go to work. This has proved to be a reliable little gadget which has a simple FM/AM mode and has nothing fancy attached to it like DAB etc and many might find it a tad old fashioned but I really do love it for its reliability and I am able to find any (or mostly any) signals simply and easily without too much hassle or twiddling. The reception is good and clear and sound quality is very good.
I like the simple design of this radio, which as I say is nothing fancy to look at but does the job I bought it for. It is black and fairly slim in design and comes with a handy carrying handle for moving it about from room to room either inside or outside the house. If the weather is nice on weekends I like to put it on the grass beside me in the front garden and sit in my chair and read the newspaper and have the radio playing gently in the background.
The Panasonic RF-2400 Radio runs on four simple AA batteries and these seem to last me a good long time, despite my using the radio every morning (except Sundays) for about 5 months now - as yet they have not needed to be changed. Although as I say I use batteries in my radio, you can actually use an electrical socket if you wish but I tend not to.
The Panasonic RF-2400 Radio is constructed of simple black plastic with large aerial. I am always able to gain a very good reception on this radion and I like the fact that it has large knobs to tune into various stations of my choice. The reception always seems to be excellent and it never deteriorates even when I move around from room to room, such as when I am decorating.
The aerial is slightly bent due to the little lad having dropped it but despite this it still picks up an excellent signal at all times. It's not too tinny at all and I really do recommend the Panasonic RF-2400 Radio for its reliaability and quality.

Although I am a massive fan of DAB radio, owning several as well as radio in general possessing a very expensive Internet Radio, there are still one or two rooms in my flat where I cannot get a good signal, one being the bathroom. So every time I want a nice long soak I need to rely on FM/AM radio and for that purpose a few months ago I bought this Panasonic RF 2400 model. Even though it was expensive costing me £32.99 I have been very happy with its performance so far.
The radio itself is I have mentioned FM/AM which is all it does. No DAB, No usb no internet connectivity. It is just a good old fashioned radio. As with all radio's like this the battery life is very long and one good set of batteries, of which the machine takes four AA, will last months on end for occasional users. You can plug it into the mains but perhaps not the best idea in a bathroom!
The device comes in a stylish balck design, is very small and slim. Its extremely portable or if using for similar needs to be me doesn't take up much space at all and can easy be stashed away in a drawer. Its made of a tough durable plastic and will stand up to falls and the aerial is made of tougher material than most. Previous radios have suffered from bent aerials even when even modest pressure has been placed but there is no worries here. It has a tough handle to make it easy to carry around and a headphone jack for private listening.
How about the reception? Usually its crystal clear, I struggle to get a good FM reception on my clock radio in my bedroom but this is superb. Even in the bathroom which for some reason seems prone to any sort of signals at all, this little nifty device picks it up clear as a bell. Its holds stations well once tune and doesn't "slide" out of tune. The big dial and big display make it more easy and accurate to tune (tuning stations next to each other on a cheap radio is tough!) and the sound quality is sharp from the speaker.
All in all this is an excellent radio and among the best I have had and serves my purpose of needing a non DAB radio for casual use!
