I bought one of these last year.I was looking to buy an alarm clock but not the typical one.I wanted something stylish so as to use it as part of the decoration of my room. After i saw it i didn't think much about it.I was looking for style, and the AJ 210 has lost of it.The backlight LED screen, the small led up on the edge, which changes color according to weather conditions, its glass-like frame and the aluminium, all these help to create a stylish and beautiful image.Sure, paying approximately 35 pounds for it is not a bargain, but you don't always think about the money when you like something.Quality and reliability are perfect up to here.No problems at all.My only complaint is that the weather forecast is not perfect. There are 55-70 percent chances that the forecast will be right.Of course,if i had bought the edition with the external wireless sensor, things would be very different i reckon.I especially like the graphical weather animations and multi-color indicators, they contribute to the styling positive image. The alarm clock is also perfect. It can be really loud and adjusted easily.I am glad that i can turn it off using the two big buttons at the top of the clock.Because if turning it off was assigned to the side buttons you would have to turn on the lights to find the correct one.Yes,side buttons require some time to get used to using them. They are small and not just 2 or 3.If it's dark in the room, you won't be able to see which button does what.Of course, after some weeks of use,you will get used to it.Gladly, less important tasks are assigned to those buttons, like radio on/off,setting the time and date, changing stations and stuff.Concerning the radio,it is good enough, for a clock.Sound is good, but signal can be weak, and switching presets requires reading the manual first.Oh,and the antenna is weird, and i don't really use it.Reading the time at night requires switching the screen's brightness.Thankfully, that's easy because it's assigned to one of the buttons on the top and you can't miss it.An advantage is that you can power the clock using the AC charger supplied or using batteries(not recommended by me if you aren't going to change it's position frequently). You can also change the temperature unit between Fahrenheit and Celsius.I forgot to mention that if the clock runs out of battery or it's no longer powered with the charger, when you turn it on again you will have to readjust time and date all over again, the weather forecast is lost and you will have to wait for an hour or two before it finds it again.A bit annoying but fitting memory in would make it even more expensive so there's no option.
I purchased this item from eBay for about 20 quid after being sick of using my mobile phone alarm and generally it letting me down.
This is the official write up and my review can be found just after this paragraph. With the AJ210 radio alarm clock, you will be able to know what the weather is like outside even before you open the curtains. With its sophisticated design and large, backlit LCD screen, the AJ210 displays the time, the surrounding temperature and atmospheric conditions using animated icons and colours. You will be immediately up-to-date on the weather with this user-friendly system. The AJ210 also includes 10 FM radio presets so you can listen to your favourite stations when you wake up. The AJ210 also has several different alarms, including a progressive-volume alarm for an easier wake up call. You'll look forward to waking up with the AJ210 weather station radio alarm clock!
Very well packaged, functions detailed on a white box and clock well protected inside.
In the box=
Main clock radio and AC adapter, instruction booklet.
Looks very modern in silver, clear and white parts. Suit any style of home, great on the bedside table :)
It is easy to understand with a large and clear display.
I find the time hard to read as it is not an LED but an LCD display, at night or early morning, it is fine in light conditions but you would have to press the backlight button in order to view the time in the dark. The reason you would turn the backlight off at night is because it is mega bright, handy if you need go the loo and just pop it on to see without puting the light on. But the option is there for bright, dim or just completely off.
There is a funky light in the corner which is related to the weather conditions which is a neat touch.
It is AC powered with battery back up, just cos you never know! Have you ever had a power cut and your alarm has not gone off? Not good...
It displays the current time, radio station if on or alarm time if radio not on and of course indoor temperature and predicted weather conditions.
Never had a problem tuning the radio station or setting the alarm, the option to wake up to the radio is brilliant instead of a horrible alarm sound, who wants to wake up to that?!
The radio has auto tune and presets so so easy. Clear signal and very clear sound.
There is an option for dual alarms as well as the usual snooze function which I mean lets face it an extra 10 mintutes never hurt anyone.
I have seen this at various prices, the reason I bought this is it was the only model I've ever seen with a radio and weather predictions that runs off the mains, I wanted all these functions and got them in this product.
Easy to navigate, looks very sleek and contemporary, good speakers for the radio, make sure you look around at prices though as have seen them up to 40 quid and mine was £20 ish so I knew I was getting a bargain. Worth getting if you are in the market for one of these.
